Most other competitive games already have this implemented in some form, for their highest ranks.
Proper team Comms and co-ordination will always be the differentiator at that level when everyone is around the same mechanical skill.
Have a look at the top of the CSR leaderboards on halotracker, 4stacks are going on long win streaks, it is the meta.
No, the real solution is not - "just get a team". There is a reason most other games have dealt with this, effectively.

2023.05.22 05:52 Silly-Cicada-7886 Why do some Onyx players match against Golds?
Why is it that with the lower population there are inconsistencies seemingly based on a regional basis? You probably don’t know what I mean.
If you look at some Australian players’ halo trackers, as well as other Europeans, they are matched with Golds when they are Onyx 1500, 1600, 1700….
This is best exemplified by the current leader of the FFA leaderboard. In their match history, they mostly play Golds and Platinums. I assume this is due to low population. But when I play late (during very low hours), it simply says that the wait times are too long.
I’ve noticed these occurrences since launch, and everyone has always told me it’s a population thing. Then why don’t I match golds late at night as an Onyx? Why do these guys specifically?

- The video opens w/ my current settings, so I’m looking for someone to assess whether my aim looks too wild or too rigid/clunky in CQC, although I feel like my sensitivities (4 Accel-4.5H-6V) are already pretty mid.
- I experiment w/ the Look Stick DZs (0Center-13Max-12Axial).
- 90 FoV. XSS Console 120hz; Elite2 Controller
- Another overarching theme is how AFAIK, Rank is driven not by KD but by KPM (Kills per Minute). So while I can maintain a respectable KD, my playstyle of playing not to die instead of pushing for kills may come back to bite me in the form of a lower KPM & hence a lower Rank than you’d expect of someone w/ my KD.
- I placed P1. I still have <50 Lifetime Ranked Matches.
- In S3, I soloed my 5 placements, played in a 3-stack w/ 2 IRL friends for ~5 games, joined a disastrous LFG 4-stack for ~5 games, then played ~5 more solo to repair my Ranked stats.
- The linked vid are my 3 most recent Ranked matches.
- I outperformed the lobby in 2 of them, then went exactly even (19-19 on Recharge KotH) in the 3rd match when I teamed up w/ the same 3-stack that I dominated on Strongholds LF.
- I then included a 50-49W TS match where I went 19-11 to illustrate the contrast: my MMR (in TS at least) routinely draws Diamond/Onyx teammates/opponents, & my after-match screens show my TS teams & opponents tend to have MMRs in the 1300-1400+ range.
- The vid's description has these same timestamps
- 0:00 34-10-10 (K-D-A), best in lobby; 250-186 W Strongholds LF. My team comprised 4 solos vs a 3-stack + solo.
- 15:40 23-7-9, best in lobby; 2-1 W CTF Empyrean.
- I earned a Sharpshooter medal, but I feel like my sniping was a disaster.
- Even though I did land 2-3 clutch snipes @ 26:15 to help protect our flag runner for the game-tying flag cap, most of my early deaths were bc I missed no-scopes.
- So this game offers an opportunity to evaluate my aim w/ the sniper.
- 28:42 19-19-Wingman 4-3 W; KotH on Recharge.
- Crucially, I teamed w/ the same 3-stack in the LF Strongholds video @ 0:00. We versed a 4-stack. I had a rough start bc it felt like I was the only 1 who contested camo every time it came up, so I’d run into several 1v2s or 1v3s.
- 1 of the 3-stack on my team way outperformed me w/ 37-26, so that shows that my 34-10-10 when I versed them when the same 3-stack were on the other team on Strongholds LF wasn’t a complete fluke
- 43:33 19-11-3; 50-49 W TS-BR on Bazaar. To illustrate the contrast, this is a match in the TS playlist just before S3. So it has today’s BR (after the Winter Update’s BR nerf), but TS’s SBMM matchmakes on MMR instead of CSR.
- So instead of the P1 lobbies I draw in Ranked, this TS game was: My team[Onyx+Onyx+D3+me(unranked at the time)] vs TheirTeam(Onyx+D3+P4+P3).
- 2 of my 19 kills were on players who were momentarily AFK (they started fighting back so they were probably changing settings or something), but that should be balanced somewhat by the fact that 1 of the Onyxes on my team was himself AFK until we were already down 10-4 (he ultimate finished -6 @ 10-16-7).
- *90%+ of my matches are in TS/QP. Altho my Halotracker match count is inflated bc I quit pretty liberally when the match is obviously wildly imbalanced from the beginning. I’d also quit before I even spawn in if I preview that the upcoming map is a garbage map, but those 0-0 DNFs still count toward my match count. In TS I have a 50% winrate, so my W=L+DNF, & ~33% of my TS matches were DNF.

I've lost so many more matches than won yet Halotracker says I'm on 46% win percentage. Looking through this season I've struggled to get over 40% in "last 25 matches" and had more than a few 30-35% win rate matches, most of the time it's unbalanced lobbies but i feel I'm well under 46% win rate.

4v3 is such a massive advantage that it should be un-losable at the highest level. The only way I could see this happening is if the smaller squad is all pros, and the larger squad isn't.
This wasn't the case here. How else do you lose a 4v3? Obviously Trippy understands the game and is not to blame. But some of his teammates (who are at the highest level) have a fundamental misunderstanding of the game. They may be able to shoot their gun amazingly but their decision making is beginner level.
This is more than "having a bad game," this is lacking basic concepts. The ranking/matchmaking system needs to be rethought because there are far too many players who's ranks are so inflated that they are ending up in games they don't belong.
Trippy lost 15 points here! This would be acceptable if his teammates were actaully similar skill and it was a real upset, but it's not the case. The gain/loss of points needs to be better managed because this is likely what's causing such large skill discrepancies in the first place. I don't think you can look at individual stats, since it's more important how the team plays. I think it starts with matching good games to begin with.
There is a local/expanded search where you can wait longer to get a better connection. I think there should be a similar setting based on rank, like (narrow/wide) so you can choose to wait longer to get closer games.
No one likes losing, but losing fair games is much more palatable. Losing because of a 3v4, or because you have teammates way below the skill level of everyone else is poor design.

We would check Halotracker.com and verify there was no record of the game. It was as if it never happened. And this wasn’t for just one game, I had this continue for more than a week and at one point during that week I went on a huge Ranked win streak and none of it was recorded.
Well, the issue is back. Last night I was playing ranked and noticed once again that the UI was broken or blank after some Ranked matches. 0 CSR was gained or lost. I went to Halotracker.com and once again, these matches were missing.
I don’t know how to fix this, but it’s not affecting just me. CSR is the most vital part of a good ranked experience and we really need a solution.

Was asked to repost this without the GT of the cheater. Guess we need to protect their identities.
I guess it should be obvious there will still be some, but it sure sucks when you run into it. Thought I remember hearing there were some anti cheat improvements made not too long ago, has anyone noticed a decline at all in number of cheaters over the last year or so?
Had a very obvious case of a guy walling on the other team last night. Not much to hide when a D4 goes 31-6 against a lobby of other mid diamonds with 7 perfects and single handedly locks down an entire map with snipe by themselves. Theater confirmed it when I could see the guy tracking everyone through walls and pinging enemies for teammates that he himself shouldn’t have even been able to see yet. Making their HaloTracker private is another red flag I’ve noticed with other cheaters in the past as well. Worst part is they were in a lobby of 3, boosting up his shitty friends that otherwise would not have won the game.
Wish we had a nice place to name and shame them all.

2023.04.01 15:15 MasterChiefS117_ Does anyone notice how solo queueing is leaning toward more losses than wins?
So my overall KD is 1.80 with 23k kills and 12k deaths. I'm constantly top 3 in matches I play, carrying my team, making solid moves towards the win, however, no matter how top tier I play, I always end my game time in Infinite with more losses than wins.
I track my profile through halotracker, and you can see the last 25 matches performance, and It's always more losses than wins lmao

I'm missing a lot of match info on my halotracker, it says I have about 1100 matches and 180 hrs playtime, but my Waypoint shows almost double the amount of matches and has other stuff. Why is that and how do I get a detailed analysis of all my matches on halotracker? I mainly want to see emy accuracy numbers.

2023.03.01 21:30 iavsaIt Anyone getting more matches with completely new players recently?
I've been playing since it came out, I'm not the greatest but I got around Diamond 6 in ranked and I think I'm decent. Lately when I spectate my team, they'll just be shooting at a weapon pad for some reason while their K/D is like 0 - 11. I've had some people that don't know what the objective of the game is I think so I (honestly) try to quickly explain like "if u touch the flag, it wont disappear" "we have to stay inside the zone to get points", stuff like that. When I check HaloTracker after the match I found out that they've only been playing the game for an hour or 3 hours or something. It seems like I get these people every match now.
This has been happening a LOT more, I've been playing since the game came out and I'd get paired with people around my same level, I don't know what happened recently but it's kind of infuriating. I'm not expecting ranked level play, I just want to play with people who know how to play the game. Did some update come out that changed matchmaking?

2022.11.10 06:03 anincompoop25 Misounted score in new CTF mode? Bug?
I just played a game of the new CTF variant, with the camo and threat sensors. The game ended in a tie, when my team should have won.

The score was 2-2 in the final round, we were on offense. With ten seconds left on the clock, someone on our team manages to grab their flag, but is killed right away. Time then expires, and we go into overtime. I get two good grenades into the entire team returning the flag, get an overkill, and am able to run the flag straight down the middle to our side. The score is still 2-2 right before I capture. I capture the flag, and the score jumps to 3-3, the round is tied, and the game is tied.
Super annoying, and such a deflation after a last minute super clutch play. Anyone else run into this?
