I had my Wheelchair evaluation today and I feel like it was absolutely horrendous. (My dx are Eds/hsd, me/cfs, pots , neuropathy ,etc) Everything I was understanding was going to happen at the appointment was completely wrong. I kept getting told my other wheelchair users that during the assessment they’re looking for your limits but won’t push you very far past them because insurance is picky as fuck nowadays and they want to see what you can safely manage. People who are far more disabled by the same conditions I have comforted me before hand that it was gonna be a relatively easy process not something that would render me unable to move for the rest of the day. Half way through the assessment I had to curl up in a ball on the eval mat and use my mom’s purse as a pillow bc I could barely move from being pushed way too far and needed to recoup any energy in order to try and finish the appointment . My vision was going in and out my hands were trembling like crazy during the walking portion my legs were giving out underneath me and my ankle rolled underneath me multiple times from instability but they said that insurance probably wouldn’t cover anything for me because I could still walk short distances without collapsing and when I tried to explain that even though i could do push through that short assessment, I won’t be able to move for the rest of the day and most days I can’t get myself to the bathroom or walk around the house at all his response was “well you just did - things have to be consistent ” and laughed. (My disabilities aren’t consistent they just aren’t I don’t know of anyone with the same or similar dx as me that would ever in a million years say that their issues are consistent in any way . And he just made a ton of other little comments like that throughout the appointment. Asking if I was actually being treated for mental health issues when I started crying from the anxiety and frustration of being actively ignored and not taken seriously at all. Joking about how insurance wouldn’t give a wheelchair to someone who could run marathons just because they wanted one after trying to express that I was really unwell and needed a cane . When I said I would be in the chair all day( because I can’t get out of bed without my current one he interrupted me and said “ no you won’t you need to be up and moving around “
When it came to actually being measured I’m almost 100% sure they didn’t do it right . They didn’t use any solid like boundaries like the wall or anything solid to measure seat depth or width against he just kinda opened and shut the tape measure really quickly while I was sitting in a terrible spot . My legs were on the table sticking out in front of me at probably at the end of the table so the seat depth was measured to where it would be stabbing into my legs a good inch or more when I was told there should be an inch or two between the back of my leg and the seat of the chair to help avoid bruising which I am very prone to. Even like including not asking me to sit up straight when measuring my back or asking for any information about my needs for a back rest at all . I barely even realized he was measuring me bc the whole thing took maybe 45 seconds to where the doctor didn’t even noticed he had measured me at all . No checking my range of motion or anything or pelvic tilt which were two things I was told were very important especially with eds /hsd even more especially because I have a really hard time keeping my hips in their sockets while using my current chair bc it’s so not made for me doesn’t have a footplate etc . So even if insurance approved the chair they “measured” me for its not gonna fit me or be usable. I am just so confused and frustrated and idk if I’m just being crazy and that was just what the appointment was supposed to be and maybe I am just fine and don’t need a new chair or any chair even ? I feel like I’m going crazy right now . I just don’t know anymore .

2023.06.01 01:17 ohh_dang Im about to get this setup installed in my single cab truck. Is this gear good to go or am I missing something, any recommendations?

I also have a line out converter but not sure if ill need this. Im mainly concerned about everything being compatible and sounding good. My goal is to have clear sound with depth and nice bass. I still have stock speakers in the truck I'd like to keep those in there if possible. If I need to upgrade them I will. this is all going into a 2001 Chevy Silverado single cab.
Is this a good setup for my goal? if not what should I do different or add to the setup?

I'm going to try to keep this short and simple. I live in Idaho, but my health plan/employer are based out of California. We have PPO coverage through Oscar by Cigna- Express Scripts handles the pharmacy claims. I have hyperinsulinemia caused by insulin resistance and PCOS. Basically, my body doesn't use insulin correctly , and this is the first step in getting type 2 diabetes. Endo had me started on metformin (both regular and extended), it made me violently ill. So endo prescribed me Ozempic- worked great, insulin came into a normal range, I feel better, great. This was last year, under blue shield. I'm now stable on Mounjaro to treat my condition, I've been lucky in securing a manufacturer coupon that has covered me this year so far. Well, it expires this month.
Enter Express Scripts coverage, Dr send in rX, rX needs PA- okay fine, we do the PA- Denied. PT isn't a diabetic. I've appealed, filed a grievance, and requested Independent Medical Review.
My question is how an insurance company can just dismiss this, allow a patient to become a Type 2 Diabetic before they will consider treatment? I've been on dm meds since August of 2021- my insulin is normal, I no longer have hypertension, I'm no longer morbidly obese, no longer pre diabetic, I mean... c'mon.
Im curious of the legality of this also, I mean really, you can boil it down to the insurance saying "No, we will not prevent diabetes in the patient" when California has laws about preventative care and stuff.

(26F) hi everyone!! massively grateful for this subreddit. looking for any & all advice, encouragement, or just sharing of your personal stories if you've been through this experience. I want to apologize if I am using any terminology incorrectly - I am relaying most from memory. I am including photos for context in case I am wrong in any part of my description.
I have struggled with terrrrible TMJ for years now (the reason I was looking into any of this to begin with), but have now realized my jaw issues could be contributing to my shortness of breath, sleeping issues, choking issues, neck pain/headaches/shoulder pain, & difficulty speaking/slurring as well - which has blown my mind, because all of these other issues were just how I uncomfortably exist, with no real answer to any of them. ***not sure if it's relevant, but I also was diagnosed with laryngomalacia as a baby, which is why I thought I couldn't breathe great idk
anyway, turns out I have a recessed maxilla & a class I malocclusion/open bite/crossbite, & camouflage (? not super sure what that means). I tried all the stretching, massage, mouthguards, whatever, & nothing helped. the only thing that offered me any relief at all was botox in my masseters, but even that wore off way earlier than the average expected timeline (I'm talkin' every 2 months, not every 6, which I absolutely can't afford.) after years of blowing money on botox wondering wtf was wrong with me, I finally went to a new, more highly qualified surgeon re: my botox treatment for pain. he was the first person to tell me he was suspicious that I was putting a bandaid on a bullet hole, & that instead of botox I actually should look into surgery. sure enough, that referral resulted in the decision to move forward with surgery. I was shocked, slightly scared, but mostly validated & relieved, because I really was feeling gaslit after years of every provider & person not fully understanding how debilitating it was. I was excited to finally have a hopefully permanent solution.
then, the news came that I needed braces to fix my bite, which (although I now understand why) crushed me. I have already had braces for 2 years from the ages of 12 to 14, & my teeth were still straight. now they gave me a timeline of "hopefully 12" but "up to 18 months" for braces before surgery (yeesh.) then they said they would do the surgery with my braces on, & roughly 3 months after that, I would be recovered from surgery & my braces would come off. voila!
I was approved for a lefort 1 osteotomy in january 2023 (grateful). my understanding is that they will be breaking my top jaw & moving it forward. I got my braces in march 2023 (sad, but still grateful.)
already, my bite has shifted a great deal, which is net positive. they warned me that it would get worse before it got better... which is now proving to be true. I am noticing a physical difference as far as my teeth jetting into more of an underbite already (not sure how much worse this will get, but already feeling insecure). I have developed a prominent lisp & deepend slur when speaking. my resting face looks & feels different, causing more insecurity. I am having increased headaches & jaw pain.
I also have recently been told about the potential connection between being neurodivergent (which I am) & having a posterior "tongue tie," which allegedly is also be connected to chronic tension & pain (which I have.) not sure how legitimate these claims are, but I am interested in any & everything I can do to not be so miserable all the time. wondering if this has to do with "tongue thrusting" as well, which I definitely did/do resulting in my front teeth looking funky.
so!! here are a few questions:
  1. how do I ensure I have a good surgeon secured? I tried researching mine but don't see much.
  2. any tips about the braces process, insurance/finances, timeline/making this process go by more quickly, surgery prep, surgery recovery, or any other things you wish you would have known before getting jaw surgery?
  3. is there any way to anticipate what you'll look like after? even though I know this surgery is for the best, the thought of having a different face freaks me out a little bit, not going to lie.
  4. has anyone here had a frenectomy for the posterior tongue tie in addition to the jaw surgery? was it helpful?
  5. is there any connection/relief of neck & shoulder pain after this surgery once things are properly aligned?
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH in advance if you read all of this.. I am struggling & uncertain & taking any info I can get. this all happened so quickly I can hardly wrap my mind around it.

2023.06.01 01:16 sorrynofunnyname Mechanic wanted me to pay him under the rug to let my vehicle inspection pass (Texas)

I went to go get my car inspection done today. The guy told me to park behind garage entrance #3. After a few minutes, he told me to pull up into the garage. Now my front bumper does have clear tape on it. We have a new bumper coming in soon. He never asked for my keys or proof of insurance.
The guy tells me he won’t pass me because of the bumper. I understood why, but then he said “the tape is holding up the headlight”, but then said “I can let it slide for only $25 in cash”. I thought he was joking at first, but he was dead serious on getting that cash. I froze up, and then told him no and drove off. I did not give him or the business any money.
He never told me to get out of my car or turn off the ignition. I saw a few other customers having to do checks like honking the horn, flashing headlights, etc while the mechanics watch. Later on, my mom (who wasn’t there, but I told her what happened) told me he was most likely trying to take advantage of me because of my age (I’m 19). She also told me the headlight is being held by the wires themselves- not the tape (she’s had the car for such a long time before me)
We took it to a different mechanic. They asked for my keys and proof of insurance. I sat in the waiting room. They didn’t tell us anything about the bumper, but it did pass. They drove my car into their garage so I’m certain they actually did the inspection.
I’m going to report them to TDPS, but should I do more? Should I report them to the police also? Thank you.

So today I dropped my car off at an auto shop to get the rear wheel bearings replaced and now they’re saying they can’t because my lateral arms are seized and the charge was going to be around an extra 800 dollars to get that fixed also and I was explaining that I needed my car next day and if they could just put the new wheel bearings on and I’ll figure the lateral arms part out later and they are saying they actually can’t because they broke it. So now essentially I’m going to have to pay for parts that they just broke and the labor too. Am I just at an overall loss here?

2023.06.01 01:11 Far_Today_4464 Final Stages with Allstate Claim - Advice Appreciated

Hi All,
As the title states I am in the final stages of an Allstate claim where I was hit by an Allstate driver who claimed complete fault. I have two questions to bounce around in here before I call Allstate and am hoping someone may have advice for me.
1 - When I rented the car, I told Enterprise that this was an Allstate claim and they said "great" we will give you a car at their rate. I am now looking at the receipt and it looks Allstate's rental policy states they won't pay anything above $26/day and Enterprise charged me $33/day....I had the car for 29 days so it looks I might be on the hook for $200, is this worth fighting for? Have people had to deal with this before?
  1. The only "constructive" advice I have received from Allstate is that after my car is fixed, I can request a "loss of value adjuster" to attempt getting difference of what the car was worth before the accident vs after the accident. My car is a 2012 and probably worth around $10k private party. Is this a route worth going and have people had success with it?
Backstory: I was hit in a parking lot while I was sitting in my car, the other driver hit my fendeheadlight/bumper. I have video of this from my camera in the dash. I drove my car home after swapping info with the cops helping to facilitate. The other driver had their car towed (in hindsight I should have stuck it to the insurance company, but I thought I was helping....). I had to wait until the next day to get things started with the other driver's insurance (Allstate) because the other driver didn't start their claim until way later that evening and Allstate wouldn't even start the process without confirming things with them. Initially it seemed like everything was going to go smoothly. I dropped the car off at my auto body shop, got a ride to Enterprise, got my rental, and went home.
After that it has been ridiculously frustrating. Allstate told me the process would be easier if I gave them my debit card info to transfer the money for the car repairs so that I could pay my shop faster...they decided to NOT do this and just sent checks to the auto shop (wtf). I was told I was going to be contacted by an adjuster once the estimate was done (this didn't happen, I had to call a ton of people to even get in contact with the adjuster, which wasn't even the adjuster listed on the estimate). I ended up talking with my mechanic and confirmed that Allstate only had aftermarket parts listed on the estimate and I wanted OEM parts installed (because that was what was on the car before Allstate's client hit me....I know this is because of cost and unfortunately, I don't have much say unless I went the legal route which even then is it worth it...) This all leads me to the two questions I have above because the one feeling I've had through this whole process is powerless.

Glad to see they are messing with insured slots they just need to go entirely. Being able to run your custom guns every raid is awful for the game and with them adding in the ability to customize guns you pick up in raid there is no reason to have insured slots anymore. It ruins the point of an extraction shooter when you can just always have your fully loaded custom gun and makes looting guns meaningless.

This is my first time signing up for health/medical benefits without being on someone’s plan and it will be through anthem. I go to the PCP, dermatologist, and gynecologist for annual appointments and follow ups if necessary I am also on two current medications prescribed by my derm. As you can see My medical needs are pretty basic but I don’t want to get a plan that’s too crappy just incase of emergencies or if I need to see a specialist or go to the hospital. I was diagnosed with N2 in December. During my sleep study, I went into deep sleep exactly never and woke up 13x for a total of 1 hour spent awake. 24% of the night was spent in REM and 64% in sleep stage II. I told them it was a decent night's sleep for me, although I still felt like death at that 6am wakeup.
During my MSLT, my average time to sleep was 40 seconds and I went into REM immediately twice.
Since then, I've been battling with insurance and Jazz pharmacies to start Xywav.
It's just incompetence after incompetence - My sleep medicine facility said they would send in the prescription. Crickets for two weeks. I asked them about it and then they actually sent it. Crickets from Jazz for four weeks.
I've called Jazz 4x in the past week to figure out wtf is going on.
First call: "looks like it was on a hold bc they needed a wet signature, but everything looks good and I put a rush on it. All that's needed is to get verified by a pharmacist. Check back tomorrow if you haven't heard anything!"
Second call: "It hasn't been verified yet, but it's in line to so check back soon."
Third call: "There's someone in the prescription so I can't look at it. So it'll probably be verified soon? Maybe that's what they're doing? Also your insurance will need to approve it which will take months." I tell her insurance has approved it. "Oh, then all you need is for it to get verified and they will then do the onboarding phone call about dosing."
Fourth call: "The reimbursement team just updated the status from pending receipt of prescription to prescription received, so all that's remaining is for a pharmacist to verify it. I can put a rush on it if you'd like?"
I slept nine hours last night and was so exhausted at work that I felt drunk. I was unsteady going up the stairs at lunch, and when it was time to leave for the day I had to sit in a chair for a few minutes holding my head before I could go down the stairs again.
I take my 300mg Wellbutrin, 30mg Vyvanse, and coffee every day. At best, I have alertness from about 9:00 a.m. to 4/5:00 p.m. Days like this, they do nothing. I sleep anywhere from 10-13 hours a night, obviously fragmented with vivid dreams about tornados, crashing planes, escaping murderers. I use blue light glasses, twilight app for my phone, take melatonin/sleep supp, no caffeine after 12pm, I'm really trying everything I can. I had to give up my morning workouts with my coach because I can't fall asleep early enough to get up at 5am, and even if I go to bed at 7pm and sleep, there's still no guarantee I will be able to wake up.
I've been looking into a bipolar diagnosis per my therapist recommendation because my depression is continuing to worsen and feel unmanageable despite every effort to control it. (I journal, use workbooks, go outside, work out regularly, engage with friends/family, etc). I don't know if I'm actually bipolar or if it's just this disease, this stupid fucking disease that makes me feel like I made it up.
I passively wish to die on a weekly basis. Between the ADHD and narcolepsy, the constant chasing down of health providers for the Xywav is getting more difficult. I'm just so fucking tired and spent the last hour crying like a baby because I can't keep going like this.
But I'm grateful for all you people that I haven't met because I've just been going through this subreddit and saving memes, reading Xywav testimonials and people's stories.

Hi, I've been running TotK on my Steam Deck almost stable 30fps, with the following setup...Below I'll explain all the settings

Option #1 - Now everytime you open Yuzu.Appimage it will prompt you to update to the "Main" build not the "EA" Build. To prevent this make a empty text file inside /home/deck/emudeck/ and name it "yuzu.noupdate" the "EA" build is recommened to play ToTK...Now if you want your Yuzu to auto update each time you open it, to the latest build "EA" then go

or right click the game from yuzu game list, choose "Open Mod Data Location", then make sure you unzip "TOTK New Performance Mod List 1.1.1.zip" and extract all mods into there. Now Launch Yuzu.AppImage and right click the game and choose "Properties" you should open in the "Add-Ons" tab and make sure those 6 mods mentioned above are there and Activated.

After updating to Steam OS 3.5 and updating to 1.1.1, Clear out or back up your old shader at

then let your Deck Build fresh shaders from the new update 3.5 and 1.1.1. Now get "Decky Loader" Plugin and install "Storage Cleaner" and delete ToTK Shader Cache aswell... This is my first job as a new grad. I was offered $90k starting in urology in a metro area of Oklahoma.
Hours per week: 4 days 7-4:30pm, 1 half day 7-noon. 1 hour lunch so 39hwk. The first hour of every day is rounding on patients at the hospital.
50% paid insurance, 3 weeks PTO, 401k matching of 3% if 5% is put in. 3 days for CME. Credentialing and CME all paid for. Bonus at the end of every year.
They said this aill be my pay as I will go through 6 month of training and then my salary will be upped. I really enjoy the staff there after shadowing. I guess what I want to know is if this is a good job offer in general. What do you guys think?

Hi so I was signed with AFLAC and i hadn’t started yet I was waiting for my license to come through when I was approached by a family friend who works for globe life. He sold me on the job and I switched from AFLAC to globe life, did I make the right decision? I’m about to go to sales school next week and I’m very nervous because I’ve been reading some not so great experiences. Im licensed to do both life and health insurance and there’s only 1 other agent in my area and he can only offer health. Im not sure if I should stick with it or go somewhere else. I want to offer actual good policies and not be a part of a scheme. Does anyone have any insight or have worked for globe life?

for the last 4 weeks i have asked my boss for more work but im not getting enough. each morning before the daily stand up meeting i would message him with the tasks i completed tasks i am working on ect. each time i tell him im underutilized and would like more work he says " im so busy i cant think of anything to give you atm let me think about it" then he might give me a 5 min task. its gotten to the point that i don't have any updates each morning. i spent 2 weeks reviewing compliance documents insuring we are compliant. the thing is this was 40 files and we went over 1 document which was due in February. several were due in march. i have asked if i should work ahead and was told not to since we need to discuss it as a team. i had all of the documents finished in less than a week but had to revert some of it as not to work to far ahead. my task for today was to check a few log ins and make sure they work. that took me 5 minutes. my boss is going on vacation for a week in which i will have 0 work. i am payed hourly and i dont have time reporting or i would be screwed. my job boils down to checking a mailbox that no one uses and a small amount of busy work. this is the first job that i have ever had that isnt 150% workload. I have a hybrid schedule so when im at home i am barely checked in at work. im watching so much youtube/reddit/netflix that when im done with work i dont know what to do with my time. its affecting my mental health. is it because my company is likely to be bought out and so no one wants to work anymore?? is it because im in a compliance role and dont have to do much? i dont feel uncomfortable asking my boss for more work each day as he has expressed his frustration at this due to another employee doing it too much. the pay is good but the reason i need to stay is due to my poor work history. my boss/manager keep saying more work is on its way when the next phase of the project ends. its its anything like the last project then i will have a weeks worth of work stretched over months. i have to be close to my laptop/internet so i cant go far. i do have to go into the office about twice a week. staring at spreadsheet but not doing anything for hours on end drains a person. should i get a part time job? should i get a side project? should i start day drinking? my concern is im going to be finishing my double masters degree in 6 months and when that happens i will actually have so much free time idk what i will do. my friends say to not shake the boat if im being payed or to get a side project. any suggestions? also sorry for the long post.

I like theory crafting. I have some big-picture questions. My understanding is that spamming a single ability is never enough to kill a good player with 30k hp. Draining them of their resources slowly seems okay for dueling, but in Cyrodiil they just run away or kite or find ways to easily reset. So there seems to be only one way left: Burst them down after a CC with delayed damage abilities that all hit at once.
Questions:
  1. I play DK. If I can line up a Flames of Oblivion and Deep Breath to hit right as they take damage from Shattering Rocks while I hit them with the beefed-up Molten Whip, and auto-attack with Crushing Weapon, then would that be enough damage fast enough to kill them?
  2. Roughly how many abilities and procs have to hit at once or at least within a couple of seconds in order to kill them and how would I calculate what would be enough to kill them based on my stats and theirs?
  3. Is it worth running a set that frees up a slot on the bar? I'm thinking of running Mighty Chudan. This opens up a slot for Deep Breath and saves Magicka since I only have to use Deep Breath when I want to go in for a kill rather than every 20 seconds. It seems like a set would have to increase your damage by an unheard-of 20% to be worth running over a set that frees up a slot for a delayed damage ability. It has me thinking about Rattlecage too.
Thoughts:
Oakensoul seems ok, but I don’t think it’s worth 5 slots of potential delayed damage, healing abilities, and utility abilities like RAT. It just really limits the flexibility you have.
Snow Treaders can remove the need for snare removal ability. And if you go full move speed with Perfected Chaotic Whirlwind you can just chase them down while spamming abilities while they spend stamina on sprinting. Maybe that movement speed strategy could drain them without letting them escape since you can cast abilities while going max speed so they can't reset.

Hi all,
I'm working in Vancouver this summer as a research intern. I got my ADHD diagnosis and also an Adderall prescription in the US. Since I'm only going to be here for about 3 months, it really does not make sense for me to apply for public health insurance here, and it seems that a lot of private insurance in Canada actually needs you to be covered by the government insurance first; also, it seems that people have to wait for a long period to be able to see a psychiatrist here (I saw one in the US in 5 days and paid around 50 dollars in total for the psychologist's diagnosis and the psychiatrist's visit...so you get the idea). With my diagnosis and previous prescription, do you know if it's possible for me to see a psychiatrist within a reasonable amount of time (and cost, of course)? I don't think my insurance in the US covers international costs.

I have been experiencing severe fatigue and other symptoms I’ll list below. I’m losing my health insurance in 2 months, and have a doctors appointment in two weeks. I want to make sure I have all the relevant information to provide my doctor and leave out the superfluous details. I know general ‘fatigue’ can be annoying for doctors to figure out and I need to get this sorted asap. Any help, suggestions, insight, will be deeply appreciated.
Female, 27yrs, ~120lbs, 5’3”
Diagnosed with: - Major depressive disorder - Persistent depressive disorder - Generalized anxiety disorder - Social anxiety - Nightmare disorder (unrelated to PTSD) - PTSD - Insomnia - GERD - Asthma - Non-celiacs gluten sensitivity
Other history: - Low iron and vitamin D as teenager - multiple concussions as teenager - multiple ear infections as child (severe - needed ear tubes and speech therapy) - (TW for non-healthcare redditors) suicide attempt by overdosing on prescription medication in 2019
Current medications: - Multivitamin (Nature Made Multi for Her) - Ibuprofen as needed (approx. 3-4x week) - no psychiatric medications for over a year
Drug use: - THC at night time - Daily caffeine (1-2 cups coffee or 1 energy drink) - no alcohol for 1.5 years
Surgeries: - Tonsil & adenoid removal (as a child)
Possible relevant family history: - Father: Celiacs - Grandfather (maternal): Type 1 diabetes - Grandmother (paternal): myasthenia gravis
My symptoms:
Duration: ~3 months, symptoms have increased in severity over the last 2-3 weeks.
I know depression and anxiety can explain a lot of my symptoms however, this feels distinctly different from any mental health episode I’ve had. I brushed off the first month or so of this thinking it was my depression or stress. I don’t experience fatigue and dizziness like this with my depression, and those have been my most disruptive symptoms.
I’m a symptom googler and I’m hoping this is just a vitamin deficiency. When I made my appointment, I asked to have my levels checked. I’m wary of seeming like I’m trying to self-diagnose, however Addison’s Disease came up and I noticed I have every symptom aside from hyperpigmentation. Should I bring this up to my doctor?
Any other tests I should ask for if my doctor doesn’t order them?

Edit to add: possible other symptom, I have had strong sugar and chocolate cravings for about 5 months. Despite adding a treat every night, I seem to have lost a small amount of weight. I don’t own a scale, but I have to wear my belt a notch tighter and my pants are noticeably loose. I’m not trying to lose weight.

Hi everyone, i’m really hoping someone could help me, i work for a very large customer services company who service a multi billion insurance company. (England) I was promoted to a new team back in September time along with 1 colleague, we were both told a pay rise would come with this new job, however after months upon months of being told ‘I’m sorry HR are still trying to sort it - you’ll get it next pay day’ - this month our manager received an email confirming it had gone through for both of us.
Unfortunately, after looking at our payslips, we discovered my colleague had received the backdated pay rise, but i hadn’t. As you can imagine i’m really not happy - i won’t go into detail but i am facing a lot of detriment due to this, after being told the pay rise would go through this month, i made financial commitments meaning i have to now borrow money.
My managers have been no help, they have been in contact with HR who ‘are looking into it’. I have already said there is no way i am being made to wait another month for this, 9 months not being paid properly for the job i do has really taken a toll.
I have contacted a higher up manager today who i am waiting on to get back to me, hopefully they can provide some guidance however i really would appreciate peoples thoughts on this? Are my company breaking any rules? when i google it it references my contract a lot - the best part about this is i didn’t get a new contract when i moved jobs and it still quotes my previous salary. But due to my colleague getting the pay rise and also having the old contract i can’t see that this is the reason. My partner and a few others suggested i get signed off by the doctor for stress until this goes through which i don’t know is a good option?

2023.06.01 00:49 whiskeydevoe What to do about my son getting 3rd degree burns from hot water at school (US-CO)

My son (12) was at the cafeteria and a classmate filled her ramen cup with hot water from one of the carafes in the cafeteria, spilling some of it on his foot, burning him badly. He went to the school nurse who said "he can probably go back to class" with the blister forming on his foot (seriously?). We pulled him from school and took him to our pediatrician, who saw the burn (and the now MUCH bigger blister) and sent us to Children's urgent care who treated and referred us to the burn clinic at the main Children's Hospital. We've been getting "evolving diagnoses" from the doctors over the past 2 weeks from "superficial (1st degree) and partial (2nd degree)" to today it being officially a 3rd degree burn ("full thickness" it's called now).
Obviously there's a problem if the school has water that's hot enough to cause 3rd degree burns THROUGH A SHOE. But Children's is also out of network for our insurance (because, American healthcare - yay, amirite?). So I suspect we're going to get slammed with a ludicrous bill after all this (oh - I forgot to mention that he now needs surgery to do a skin graft on the burn area).
I certainly don't relish the thought of pursuing legal action against a school district for this, but: 1. this is still really f*king dangerous, and 2. it feels quite negligent on the school's part. Of course, doing anything legally means my son has 6 years of hell (the administrators can be pretty vengeful), but I want to make sure that someone (the nurse, the kitchen staff, the administration) takes the situation seriously. Whether there's any kind of remuneration is like 97th on my list of things I care about here.
Hoping someone has some ideas on how best to approach this. Have you dealt with something similar? How did you effect change? Or did it require actually taking legal action to make a difference?
