Returning Player With A New Year’s Resolution
2023.01.01 01:39 SirQuackerton12 Returning Player With A New Year’s Resolution
Hey I haven’t played Genshin in a while. Each time I play I always do because I made a new friend who plays it or because after cycling through games that I’ve never played before I realize that Genshin really is a top tier game. However whenever a friend of mine gets burnt out of the game or life gets in the way or I get burnt out of the game, I end up quitting.
I started Genshin since launch day but I took a two month break because I didn’t pull Venti. I then rerolled into a new account getting myself Diluc. The only reason I got Diluc was because an old friend from highschool told me the Standard Banner shall always be better than the limited time banner (I found out through videos that my friend was as inexperienced as I was at the time and didn’t know what he was saying.) Zhongli was out at the time and eventually Ganyu and I didn’t pull on either.
By the time I started pulling on banners was during Venti’s reroll. I won’t deny I’m a bit of an idiot and I whaled. I have a C3 Venti and I spent around $150 to get him. Next banner was Childe although I didn’t spend any money on him, I got him in 4 pulls because I decided to roll as a joke. Keep in mind a few months prior I was a big Childe fan to the point where he was my username and pfp on some apps and during this time I rolled for him I hated on the character as a inside joke among friends. Got lucky there and after that I took a break. When I came back, I realized I missed out on so many characters as well as Inazuma’s launch. Itto was out and I rolled (Whaled about $100) and I got him even though I could’ve lost the 50/50. Shenhe then came out, and with the remaining Primos, I managed to pull her. But I found out she’s basically a support character meant to help out ice units (which I have no good ice main DPS). Finally I got Kazuha during his reroll and then I stopped playing the game.
Now I’ve been looking for games to play and every other MMORPG just doesn’t compare to Genshin (even though Genshin isn’t an MMORPG). But even then, most games these days are trying to be Genshin killers instead of WoW killers.
I’m kind of stuck. I’m not sure how to necessarily get back into it. My friends who have been playing the day daily since launch are leagues ahead of me. They know all the lore there is and one of them dips $500 of their paycheck every two weeks onto the game to basically collect every character in the game (last time I spoke to them they were missing only 3 characters who they didn’t really care for and they have all the S tier weapons).
Does anyone know how to eliminate the FOMO mentality? I fear that’s gonna to either make me quit again or just not enjoy the overall experience. I mean the last time I got back into the game I tried grinding materials to make my characters stronger or try to level up my AR (which I believe was 50 when I stopped) simply because my friends were higher than me (at the time the highest known AR was 60 I believe and my friend was AR 90 since before Genshin they weren’t a gamer and unlike them I always get hyper fixated on a game for 2 weeks to a month and then I get a surge of energy for another game.)
Any advice in general that’s unrelated is also appreciated. I always had a reoccurring though in my head to just simply make a new account and start all over but I believe I spent at minimum $300 on this account and I don’t really want to feel like I wasted money.
One of my New Year’s resolution is to play Genshin atleast for 15 minutes a day (to do dailies). Any other resolution that I should make in order to prevent FOMO from making me feel worse?

2022.07.20 11:40 One-Refrigerator8915 My experience of sharing an account to my friend (and how it went horribly wrong)
So it all started when my classmate asked to try out my account for some characters and weapons that he did not own. And as the title suggests, I told my email and password to him. Immediately after doing so, he received the veri code from my email, before telling me that my resource has failed to download. Upon seeing a screenshot for proof, I logged onto Genshin and was shocked to see my linked email being changed to another unknown one (which, according to my friend, he did not know either). This meant that I could no longer retrieve the veri code and log into my account. Before thinking that my account got hacked, I was actually feeling suspicious about my friend. Here is some backstory. Way before this happened he also borrowed friend B's account to play and ended up changing B's email to his email, thus making B think that his account got hacked. I doubled check with my friend and even emailed his email address to finally make sure that he did not repeat the same prank on me. Then I tried retyping my email address + password in the login menu, the game instead brought me to the registration page and loaded me with a new game. It was when I finally realized that my account got "hacked (you will see what the "" mean later). The first thing that came to my mind is to, of course, send an email + ticket to Mihoyo. When I showed my friend what I wrote for the email, he told me to delete it as he said he knew a strategy of writing an email to MHY CS such that my email will get prioritized (probably due to the fact that I am p2p). Well, I did delete the email I sent, but I made sure I still personally submitted a ticket to them on my alt account. Now, I am extremely grateful for Hoyoverse's unexpectedly fast response to my case. They literally responded to me 3 times in less than 48 hours. And the final step of filling up the account recovery form (a form you will receive as the last step of account recovery to explain all the details of your account) was sent to me in less than 3 days. And they promised to provide a response to me in less than 20 working days after this.Things started to take an extremely weird and unexpected turn when my friend C told me that he got unfriended from my main account, and how my account's description got changed to "I JUST PULLED KLEE AT LOW PITY, OMGG". Upon receiving the screenshot my mind went like "yup definitely hacked and that scum spent all my gems on Klee while I just wanted kazuha". What eventually surprised me was that friend C managed to contact the "hacker" through the in-game chat and got her discord tag. Through a series of conversations (captured on screenshot by C), I was shocked to learn that the "hacker" actually got my account from... ** an account trading discord server ** .My mind went blank for a few seconds (literally). Then I asked my friend to press that person with a few more questions ("who gave you the account", "why did that person give you this account? Cuz the original owner does not want to play it for a while?"). And when the discord name tag of the trader came out, I almost wanted to throw my phone onto the ground. Why? Because that trader is none other than my ** FRIEND WHO ASKED TO TRY MY ACCOUNT ** . I wanted to get deeper into the conversation so I personally friended that girlFeeling extremely infuriated, I demanded him to give back my account by the end of that day despite the current owner wanting to keep it to herself. He assured me that things are under control (under control my ass he literally gave it to another person without my permission) since he had so many other alt accounts to trade back. At night he finally texted him...with caps on and typing at extreme speed, asking me to block that person on discord immediately and also sent me his email + password so I can log back to my account again. After making sure the account was actually mine, I went to ask him what made him in such a hurry just now, to which he told me he discovered that girl happened to be a scammer recorded in ksf related to the account trading server, and that girl's current account was just an alt. I could already sense something is wrong with that girl's discord account as it changes to a different description and pfp every day.So yeah, now my account is back to me safely, and I blocked that scammer, my friend apologized for his prank (even though I thought it was beyond prank) and I hope nothing wrong will happen again. Finally, I hope whoever is reading this, whenever you want to share your account to others, make sure to always physically track whatever they are doing with your account, and never assume whatever they say is true...even if they are your friends and classmates.

2022.05.30 18:27 Cartesian_Carrot Why are you blocked?
- this is not a dni list this is a "if you are blocked and wondering why here are some possible reasons" list
- I have 470k+ people blocked and counting
- I run block chains so it's entirely possible you didn't do anything wrong and just got caught up in one
- just because you fit a reason on this list doesn't necessarily mean I blocked you for that reason and you can always send me a cc asking for clarification or for me to unblock
- if I unblock you I can not promise that you won't get caught in another block chain at some point in the future
- if it's in bold I will probably not make exceptions (you can still ask I'm just giving you a heads up)

2021.11.03 01:24 Himemokka The Childe main co-op experience
Today I got my upteenth rude welcome while running domains, when a trio of Hu Tao mains at the Peak of Vindagnyr greeted me with a very kind "eww" and started demanding I leave myself or be kicked. It's not really new, or unexpected, at this point, but it did kind of ruin my morning. It also got me thinking, though.
The Genshin community is obviously very polarized when it comes to Childe as a character. But what about Childe mains? What's the general consensus?
I've been using Childe as my go to co-op character since I pulled him on his first rerun back in April, and have had him as my ingame pfp for just as long (with a notable exception during June when I got Kazuha, and this is important, but I'll get to that). I've been met with my fair share of exaggerated, over the top reactions in both domains and via random world joins. People like those Hu Tao mains, people who demand I switch characters, people who ask why I wasted my money on him instead of characters like Ganyu or Eula. I see more "Childe mains DNI" signatures than for any other character mains.
It's just a hunch, but I wonder how much having a Childe pfp impacts your chances to be accepted via world joins. If I had the time and dedication, maybe I'd test it, but I definitely feel like even during the short time I had Kazuha as my pfp, I was accepted more frequently and welcomed more warmly.
On the flip side, we have people who are excited to see Childe. Maybe a little too excited.
I've been put through a lot of honestly uncomfortable situations thanks to the apparent stereotype that Childe mains are overzealous and flirty. Hell, I'm playing an anime game with my polygon bishounen on a Tuesday--if anything, the assumption should be the opposite. People overstep their boundaries. I've been asked to pillow talk in chat, to roleplay, and to take suggestive pictures with other characters. Sure, it's all fun and games with no ill intent and no real damage done, but from complete strangers, it feels frankly invasive and rude.
Not everyone out there is crazy. Some people are nice; a lot of them are quiet. Co-op will be co-op, I guess. But I can't help but feel like my co-op experience was definitely impacted by my choice in who I main.
I suppose everyone's is, though. I probably have sort of a biased look on things, using pretty much exclusively Childe in co-op. I'm sure a Kokomi main will tell me they have it worse. I also haven't co-oped with everyone on earth, so it's not like I'm any kind of authority on it. But as someone who, according to my anniversary theatre, has completed over 1.3k domains (I very rarely do domains alone) with Childe, I thought I'd throw my two cents out there.
Really, this is just my own musing. But I'm really curious. What are my comrades' experiences using Childe in co-op? If you're not a Childe main and you're just lurking here, or if you just got him, what do people think of us on the outside?
Edit: I feel like I should clarify this, since it wasn’t clear already--not all of my co-op experiences have been bad. There are quite a few good ones, I’ve made quite a few good friends via co-op, which is what keeps me doing it. I just play a lot
of co-op. Which also probably contributes to this. More co-op, more chances to meet bad eggs.
