- Learn about the future of media and code — the front-end and backend of the internet — so you can focus your efforts.
- Understand digital leverage, distribution, no-code tools, and digital assets so you can take part in the mental & financial wealth transfer.
Phase 1) Creating A Meaningful Niche Every day I hear people going on and on about trying to find their niche.I also hear people talking about how they don’t know how to combine what they love talking about with what will sell. You already have the answer. You just don’t have the clarity. - Develop a long-term strategy to create your own niche — meaning you don’t have to worry about your “competition” playing status games.
- Discover your life’s work, curiosities, and obsessions. I see too many people that are uncertain about this for years.
- Cultivate and turn your vision, goals, and values into a brand that attracts an audience you love interacting with (and that will buy from you, and only you).
Phase 2) Content Strategy There is one thing that separates those who make it in the digital economy and those who don’t.It’s the quality, articulation, and perceived originality of their content. The content you post has to make sense to the people you attract.Everyone has a different voice and tone that they resonate with. That they are congruent with and trust. It has to change their thought patterns or behavior — that’s what makes you memorable. That’s what separates you from the sea of people posting surface-level copy-cat style posts.Example and putting my money where my mouth is: - Become an expert-level speaker or writer on the topics you care about.
- Never run out of content ideas for your posts or promotions (without using content templates — that’s how you stay a commodity).
- Create posts, blogs, tweets, images, and videos that resonate with other’s on a deep level. People will actually ask you how you got so good at what you do.
- Separate yourself from the ocean of B-tier creators that struggle to sell their products, services, andhave their ideas stick in the head of their audience.
- Implement our Epistemic Research Method — which is just a fancy way of saying scientific research method… but it’s for researching your mind to craft brilliant content and product ideas.
Phase 3) Crafting Your Offer Most people are sitting on a goldmine of skills, experience, and knowledge ( that they can use to help people 1-2 steps behind them). That is what people pay for.Considering 95% of the market are beginners… if you are good at something, you can help them get to your level ( no matter how “basic” you think the information is).Do you not watch basic content all day anyway? People don’t want new information, they want to be reminded of what works. - Use our Minimum Viable Offer strategy to start monetizing immediately (and have something to improve over time, rather than procrastinating until it’s perfect).
- Have a strategy for reducing the time you spend working over time (as you build leverage and improve your offer).
- Know how to create your own customers from the audience you are building, instead of “finding” the right customer for your offer.
- Take the guesswork out of building coaching, consulting, or digital product offers.
Phase 4) Marketing Strategy You aren’t making money because you aren’t promoting yourself or your offer. That is literally the only way to make money. Have something desirable and consistently put it in front of peoples’ faces. In Phase 4, I will show you how to systemize, automate, and be consistent with simple promotions. You will be able to make money without having the chance of forgetting to do it (or letting fear of failure get in the way). - Learn to sell on social media, in your writing, and across different platforms.
- Have consistent sales coming in while focusing on your meaningful message (no need to sound salesy all the time).
- Learn advanced automation strategies that you can implement at your own pace, especially once you validate your offer.

2023.03.24 07:49 Ok_Resolution_5397 Why is It doing this?
| Hello. So I recently withing past couple months have upgraded my monitor, graphics card and CPU. I got a gigabyte 165hz 1440p curved monitor, a XFX AMD Radeon 7900xtx and a Ryzen 9 CPU. When first installing my graphics card I noticed it doing this thing here when playing games where the shadows or dark outlines of objects are like blurred or having hard time loading and quality of graphics just terrible. Somehow after messing with multiple settings it went away on its own. Then just recently I went and changed out my gpu power supply cords to some Corsair ones. The reason being the thermaltake PSU I bought had terrible cords with split ends that looked ugly and bulky. So I replaced them with these nicer looking Corsair ones just today. After getting it all set up I noticed it starting to do the stupid black shadow thingies again. I've messed with all of my settings, deleted and updated driver's multiples times, checked to make sure the power supply cables were all plugged in correctly and messed with in game settings. Nothing seems to be working to get it to fix it. Any idea why it's doing it and what I can do about it? Also it seems to be doing it outside of games even. As you can notice on my amd software screen when I move the box around fastly even the letters are getting the black shadow blur thing. Any help would be really appreciated. submitted by Ok_Resolution_5397 to pcmasterrace [link] [comments] |
2023.03.24 07:47 anordinaryscallion Help me flesh out the religion and religious figures of my fantasy world
Hey everyone! I'm currently neck deep in my first of (hopefully) many novels and I'm a little stuck fleshing out the details of the religion. I have decided on a fairly Lovecraftian couple of deities that do exist in my world. One is a formless infinite consciousness with almost ineffable motivation and the other is similar, but chooses to act or appear benevolently.
The first of the two is not evil, just fundamentally different to us. It doesn't share our morals or values and therefor doesn't value human life or well-being. It occasionally plays games with the turn of human history but usually doesn't care to interfere. Sometimes it chooses to appear to people in visions or dreams as a gargantuan mass of flesh and tentacles, or a ball of countless spider's legs and eyes, or a giant creature made from a thousand human arms and hands. Most often however it simply takes the form of an infinite, twisting, black void.
The other is more benevolent but has a tendency to look at the big picture rather than the smaller picture. This means that sometimes it is okay with the ends justifying the means. It has a history of interfering with human history but not in ways that seem good to the people in the moment. When it appears to people in visions or dreams it takes the form of an enormous stag, whose antlers seem to branch out into the infinite, linking a network of stars and galaxies across the infinite universe.
The people in the world do not know much of the real nature of these supernatural entities but it does seem that once, perhaps long ago, they did. For example: one common exclamation in my world is "great night!" In addition, when they have funerals they cremate their dead on funeral pyres and talk of their dead rejoining the great night above.
I think that the religion isn't going to be a centrally important factor in the societies, for example most people believe that what is told by the religion is true, but its not very explicit or specific so its hard to deny or take any real meaning from it into your day to day life.
What I'm struggling with is the details of:
a) What the people actually believe: This would be a bastardized version of the truth, warped to suit the practical needs of those in higher places within the power structure of the clergy and society at large.
b) What would the religion be called: I'm not totally sure if it would even need a specific 'official' name but at least something for me to be able to refer to it as.
c) What would I call the people within the hierarchy of the religion. At the moment I'm just calling the main figureheads priests as a placeholder but I'm not really happy with that as a long term solution to the issue.
Thanks for reading, I hope the text wall wasn't too much. Looking forward to hearing some of your thoughts. No bad ideas!
Thanks again and take care everyone!

2023.03.24 07:44 ThrowRARK friendship advice?? 22F and 23F
okay so this is my first post and probably my only one. I have primarily made this post to get some feedback on a situation in which i’m very torn in. a few months back i 22 F got into a huge argument with my best friend 23 F. we both met through work and since the first time we hung out we were inseparable. she was truly someone i loved so dearly and couldn’t have imagined my life without. we both were in a time where we were both single and probably getting into trouble we weren’t used to getting into. i ended up in a situationship where i knew nothing was serious and it was plainly just for the sex. no feelings no attachments. he did know both my best friend and i but we never made it awkward where we couldn’t all hang out together. one night my best friend and i were hanging out and my situationship had texted the both of us to hang out. we weren’t up to much so we decided to all link up. i didn’t think much of it because we had all hung out before with no trouble. as the night is going on we all began to drink at his house and decided to just hang out inside until i could sober up to drive my best friend and i home. as time passes by we all headed up to his room to just chill until it was time to go home. during this entire time my best friend is continuing to drink which didn’t bother me. as we’re all hanging out in my situationship’s room we all laid on his bed to watch tv. as we’re laying there he begins to kiss me which didn’t bother me but out of the respect of my best friend i didn’t want to make her feel awkward having to endure seeing any of that. i turn away from him and start watching the tv again and i’m watching tv i start to hear mumbling. as i turn around to look at what i was hearing i see both my best friend and situationship making out. i sat up as quickly as i could and sat at the edge of the bed trying to figure out what was going on and what i was gonna do. i ended up walking out and going to my car. i had debated leaving her there because i was so hurt at the fact that this was happening but ended up deciding to stay and at least take her home. eventually she comes out and starts to cry and ask why i left. i could clearly tell she was pretty drunk and i should take her home. i start to drive to her house as i’m literally shedding tears down my face because never did i think i’d ever be in a situation like this. we get to her house and she stumbles to look for her keys to open the gate but eventually ends up managing. she got out and i had watched her walk towards the door and close the gate and thought nothing else of it. come to find out the next morning she got in her car and tried driving and ended up messing her car up by running into the gate. i found her the next morning passed out in her car because she had left her phone in my car by accident and when i went to drop it off she had no idea what had happened because she said she had blacked out. we didn’t really talk the rest of the day because i had gone out with family and my mind was everywhere. she calls me the next day crying not knowing what happened and why i was upset so i told her what happened and i wasn’t too sure how to move forward. i was willing to move past in with time and decided i didn’t want this to be the end because i truly loved her. i just think we both needed time apart. we talked a few days later and the conversations didn’t go as i had thought it would. she told me she didn’t think what i did (leaving her home by herself the night that everything happened) was okay. in return i told neither what she did was okay either. i had apologized and said that i think i could’ve responded differently but was upset i couldn’t just willing taken care of her. we both took our time apart and i was willing to let go of the past because she meant so much to me and a situationship shouldn’t stop me from having my best friend. come to find out her mom went to my old job looking for me and complained to a supervisor about what happened and was looking to get me fired. since then i’ve only talked too her a few times because i was truly more upset about the way things were handled after more than the situation itself. i just want to know what should i do friendship wise??

2023.03.24 07:44 iRamHer Supporting and strengthening an in-use H beam.
disclaimer: I am likely going to install a temporary full beam flange width post with steel base and probably 1/4" thick top cap regardless of what is figured here, until I can remedy the core issues. I would *like* to not have to do that as the movement isn't too too terrible, unless I find buckling or cracking when I tear into it, which I am not expecting to find. I am trying to keep this short and concise. I'm not looking for precise to the fraction measurements. I'm really looking for a, yes that design could have been viable in preventing flexural torsional buckling/twisting. I have no reason to believe there's any local or distrortional buckling, yet. Obviously, I will need to tear into it but my ADHD would like to know how much motivation I am going to need to start this and how much cursing I will be doing through out. I'm sure more information would be nice but at that point I'll only be posting the follow up result as it'll be tore into and did done.
Questions:
1.)This is my main question, as I am trying to attempt to tell my woman I tried to not use a post. Would a basic 2x4 wall (it looks like 1 jack stud, 1 king stud, 2-2x10 beam, connecting somehow to the steel beam, which is part of a 2x4 16" ocish center wall, not sure of what connectors if any used, be adequate to provide an H beam with the needed lateral support to prevent flexural torsional buckling? Or rather, does the intersecting 4x10 member provide any stability in this situation, or is it more likely that it is just a floor member support? I have yet to see how the beams are connected at the 4x10 side, but after seeing the beam side with scope, seeing the drywall in between? I believe I may be over assuming its function, but that could be a red herring of poor craftsmanship. Technically it doesn't show anything useful. Picture is included down below, you can see the 2x/osb/shim assembly aggressively pulled apart, starting at the top, as the beam pulled away due to twisting counter clock wise. Much more info below but as stated below: The H beam is 10" tall x 8.25" wide x 1/2" thick. The load is roughly 8000lb of brick and 8000 pounds of roof, no other load beyond external factors. The lateral support would've started at roughly 70" away from support post, not including bearing measurement. Viable lateral stay? or just a joist support? The 2-2x10 beam is needed for floor joist span support if nothing else.
2.)Would a sufficiently sized post wide enough to support the entire flange, positioned at the assumed lateral support location, alleviate the middle span stress and be positive towards the existing beams health, or would I most benefit from supporting the flange on ends fully? or both? Or should I crib the lower beam to help temporarily support the upper beam mid span? Or is there a reason I'm not seeing as to why the existing end posts do not fully support the beam flange, beyond possible lack of support underneath the post? I have more than enough foundation to support a 10x10 if I desired at the "lateral support" location.
3.)Would bricking in beam ends be a positive addition in this situation, or would I be better off considering welding end caps at minimum and calculating for bracing to help with torsional buckling? Just out of curiosity, I imagine tension and compression are distorting the ends/effecting bearing/span capacity.
The pictures included at the bottom may be a better story teller than this wall of text I'm trying to summarize. Back story before I ask my question because this is the ultimate solution that can't happen yet. I have a residential structure was remodeled in roughly the 90s. I am assuming during the remodel they did drainage, and the drainage was done with steel corrugated pipe, which is in the process of, or is, collapsed. I realize this is a situation that needs remedied, and will be bringing in a mini to do proper drainage within the next few months, I hope. As a result of said drainage, and the fact that the foundation is on a heavy clay, I have a lot of expansion and contraction, and thus erosion. After drainage I will be driving some sort of piers and likely adding to the footings. I understand this is the core of my issue and the ultimate fix, it can't happen yet.
AS A RESULT, i have 2 supporting walls that are roughly 0.2 ISH degrees off last time I measured. Those walls support a beam, that beam supports 2 posts, which supports another beam. I will need to support the lower beam as it has some twist in direction of load, and unfortunately I think the brick plate does not have enough weld to attach it to the beam, and it's starting to split due to someone modifying the beam by cutting a hole dead center, and removing brick, which seems to support a large slab above it.
The house is 60s era, I believe the beams were all installed in the 90s, I believe some got repaired sometime before I moved in. I lived in this house for roughly 7? years now, the beam when moved in, which is covered with drywall, had a crack roughly dead center starting at bottom flange and working its way up and back, showing SOME but not much deflection. I wasn't concerned at the time, it was another project. Well it's time to do the project and I've had more shifting, still within spec just estimating, but definitely needs remedied as it will keep moving due to circumstances. In before the "there's no way anyone on reddit can help you, you need to see a so and so engineer" yes. Sure. And I will eventually. Good luck finding one any time soon though. at least here. I build and work with a lot of wood and steel structures although I over build, especially with steel, since I have a lot, my calculations are more jazz unfortunately due to health concerns that have eaten my brain but I am recovering, although I am more into hydraulic assemblies now. This is in my wheel house, although I'm not able to think 100% at this point yet due to personal issues, I am very capable of carrying out a temporary support and longer term fix, eventually. I am playing around with ideas at this point though. "boy this sounds like you're in over your head". I would hope the beam stays in over my head. This is my goal anyways. Enough jokes.
The beam in question above it is also twisting the same direction, likely due to the posts favoring direction of load, the posts not fully supporting the flange closest to the load direction, what I am assuming is a lateral support has seperated, and I am assuming the beam being loaded off center promoting torsion, specifically at the center of span, which is just beyond where the lateral support is. As a result, and keep in mind this is just rough eye balling because I have not removed any drywall beyond the one end to scope out, and the drywall job is interesting, so I am wondering if everything was straight/ flush to begin with. I am under the assumption, the beam jobs were designed by an engineer. However, I am also pretty sure THIS specific issue was fixed once before, and was partially the reason it's happening now, because improper fasteners/material was used.
There's 4 pictures here:
- The basement a ROUGH not to scale diagram which includes 2 beams each color coded, each has 1 end that supports the upper beam's post, which is notated with shapes. not really concerned about them, though I think the one needs some love/brick plate wasn't welded properly and is spltting from the beam slowly, and torsion mimics the 2nd floor beam} The problem beam supports a fraction of a roughly 12,000 pound 7" floating concrete slab, which is why it has a brick plate/bricked. And it really isn't a great install to be honest. https://imgur.com/a/Rwh27l7
- the 2nd floor, which is where the beam in question is. The posts for this beam sit on the other two beams drawn, notated by diamond and 4 sided star. I tried to keep them color coded between the two drawings. Diamond being pink compromised beam, yellow being intact neutral smaller beam, and red just dictating the 2nd floor beam as a whole. This beam supports roughly 8000 pound of brick, not accounting for any load distribution, two roofs, I can't find my calculations there, but I'm in a 30psf area so let's assume both roofs together applying load on that beam would max roughly 8000 pounds. https://imgur.com/a/WI3N8z1
- Beam is 10" tall x 8.25 wide 1/2" thick.
- 218" total span, + 3.75" bearing on each end
- Posts are 4.5" thick x 7" wide, 2x lumber, they do not support the whole flange on the LOAD side. I do not see signs of these budging, Honestly, while the underlying structure is off some, I am getting contradicting readings on plumb. I'm actually wondering if the beam is pushing the posts opposite directions at this point, as readings are 0ish to 0.1 on one post {the posts aren't properly combined, so there seems to be some movement between them, or they weren't joined flush/shrunk after} and 0.3 degrees opposite directions, like the "lateral support" is acting as a pivot. THAT hasn't moved since first and last measurement since i've checked. Frankly. likely lazy install.
- Beam on bottom flange at center (measured on drywall) is twisted 2.2 degrees. This seems to be a uniform dimensional twist and not any form of permanent damage. This equals about 3/8" of sag on no load side and 3/4"ish on load side compared to posts. Could be a slightly wider ratio though.
- I do not know if there is cantilever on the diamond labeled side of beam
- I also do not see any way this beam is fastened to the posts, unless they are under the 2x drywall connection boards, which is possible.
- The scope pictures below show what I was assuming was a lateral support connection. I'm not sure that's true now. It does look like there was repair done here once before, AFTER the first installation.
- 2 scope picture of the connection of lumber and shims to beam, which is what connects what I am calling the lateral support, etc. The pictures are somewhat useless and uneventful, as the material will all be replaced regardless of situation, and you can't see the connection, and it's looks like a drywall sandwhich, but I can't get a better visual yet. I would not be surprised if it was toe nailed, as I am assuming it was fixed at some point due to context clues as a result of a similar movement in past. The 2-2x10 beam is needed for floor joist span support if nothing else.
Woman didn't want a post, but she'll probably get a post. I'm aware I can add plate steel to the bottom/top flange. I can add bracing. I can add a second beam. I can wrap the posts in a fabricated C channel, or replace with a full size beam post. I can increase the bearing capacity by adding extra 2x lamination/dispersing load on sill. Maybe someone is seeing something I can't see or am glazing over. My main concern, and maybe I'm wasting time on it, is assuming that off center connection is a lateral support to help prevent twisting.
I appreciate the responses, insulting or neutral ahead of time. I'll try to revise this and lessen the word wall in a bit/correct some terminology specifics. I understand many will be uncomfortable to answer, I don't need those answers unfortunately. I also understand there is technically not enough to answer in my specific situation to an exact, but that's not what i am asking.

2023.03.24 07:38 Ok_Fail_1643 Rewards and punishment.
Need opinion on the effectiveness of my reward and punishment system for an 11 years old boy I am tutoring one to one at his home.
So I will first set a monthly target for him.
Reward system;
If he managed to master 1/5 of his target, he will be rewarded one ⭐️. Then we progress to next target. If he managed to master another 1/5 target, he will get another ⭐️. A total of 5 ⭐️, I will give green light to the parents to buy him robux (roblox currency).
Punishment system;
Failure to maintain previously achieved target, deduct one ⭐️, add an hour of study time. Bad behaviour deduct one ⭐️ and scolding. If no stars to deduct, add an hour of study time and scolding.
By the end of month, if he has lesser than 3 stars, take away all gadgets for a week.
That is the rough idea, and I will have a board to display the ⭐️ to him. Please let me know if its too harsh or lenient. And if you think it will be effective for progress? And how much robux is reasonable? (if you are familiar with the game.)

2023.03.24 07:35 True_Morning_2552 New Drukhari player here! List building advance needed!
I am trying my best to use the little bit of knowledge I know about the faction and 40k as a whole. The ideas for scoring would be BEL,RBD, and I think Take them Alive!
I would probably try to take the middle of the board with some grotesques and wyches with the haemonculus hoping the durability and some obscuring cover will keep them safe while I try to advance and charge up the board on T1 to put out some damage with my characters hoping to make a bunch of things fight last and clear a flank. I might be thinking too far into this but this is the idea I am trying to go for. I am open to feedback and advance!

2023.03.24 07:34 Dysautonothankyou I (25F) want to hook up with my ex’s (26M) friend (29M) but I’m not sure if it’s a good idea.
Four years ago my ex (M26) and I (F25) broke up. We hooked up in high school during my sophomore year, when I was 15, for a month. We met again after high school, when I was 18, and rekindled things. This second time around we were together for three months before I ended things.
This second we were together we didn’t end on good terms. We were both young, stupid, and did not really have the sense needed to have a healthy relationship. Lots of fighting. Lots of hurtful things said. We both were shitty to one another and in the end I broke up with him, and he took it pretty hard.
After we broke up we were still having sex casually for a few more months which was very stupid. Eventually it became clear to me that us hooking up was not feasible anymore (duh). It was obviously seriously negatively impacting his mental health and since I was firm in my stance of not getting back together I completely cut contact after he tried getting back together again. (I was very clear in telling him that we weren’t together during this time and that u had no intention to do so)
As you can tell, the entire relationship was very messy. The final breakup was even worse. Looking back I realize I should have completely ended things right away. Or at least handled things differently. I was stupid. You live you learn.
Anyways, skip forward four years forward to now. I (F25) run into an old mutual friend of this ex (M26) and myself, J (M29) at a concert. He and I hit it off right away. J and I had always gotten along well but after the breakup ended,we ended up not talking. At this show though, it was like no time had passed and J and I have been hanging out since. Through hanging out a lot it is clear there’s something but J and my ex are still very close now.
J knows next to nothing about my relationship with my ex. Both my ex and I are private people so all he knows is what he saw in the aftermath of the break up. J says my ex “went crazy” back then and he leaves it at that.
Since I’ve gotten the vibe, J and I have spoken candidly about hooking up and he seems all for it, since “we’re both adults and it was so long ago”, but I can’t help but feel guilty. J and I both don’t want anything serious so it seem shitty of me to knowingly ruin a friendship over a hook up.
I know it’s J’s choice, but I can’t help but feel guilty about it. I, obviously, have not talked to this ex at all in these past four years. He jumped into another relationship very shortly after we broke up and has been in it ever since.
Still, given my history with my ex, the idea makes me nervous. This ex is very intense and he lost it when we broke up for good, wrote me long winded letters of how much he loved me, how much he hated me, he even changed the way he dressed to a style I said I like for a few months- it felt like a lot.
J has wholeheartedly reassured me that my ex has moved on, but I’m not sure he has the full picture. I feel conceited thinking my ex would react at all over this but I can’t help worrying it could bring up old feelings for him.
Behind all this and you’re sleeping with your exes friend, is a dick move but given how long it’s been it seems reasonable to think it may be OK.

2023.03.24 07:31 anonymahm I've got good reason to feel some holdover anxiety, but it's interfering with finding peace. How do I make my brain stop and smell the roses? [Longer than intended, but TLDR included]
(No one has permission to use this in a click-bait blog article of bullshit sensationalism, for the record)
This is going to sound like a crazy problem to have, but I need some bromo wisdom to help me wrap my head around this new .. phase? chapter? of my life. I am NOT complaining. I just need to figure out how to let myself accept and ... I guess enjoy (?) having the chance to slow down and ease out of a lifetime of survival mode. This got long, so feel free to skip to the juicier parts.
In short? I feel crushing guilt when I don't justify my day's activities/projects etc to my husband, because he's actually working and I'm "just" a SAHM (MY words, not his, I swear). Yes. I hear the misogyny in my language and it makes me feel crazy. He is not tasking me with anything - this is 100% coming from me. He fully supports me not reporting my daily activites to him for approval, wants me to try being "lazy" while he's at work (I would probably stop breathing in panic), and says I put way too much pressure on myself to be a "good enough". He tells me that he sees enormous value in everything I do for our family, and I believe him? Kind of? I guess I trust him more than I believe him, but my own baggage and anxiety gets in the way of actually changing my mindset.
Here's why:
TL;DR: Most of my life I've been in one-sided power dynamics where I had to "earn my keep". My previous two long term relationships minimized any contributions I made to our family, and I had to account for every minute of every day since I "did nothing", even when I was working. They were both abusive and did a lot to cement the "be useful or be discarded" ideology I'd experienced in my teen years. Now I'm in a GREAT marriage with an amazing supportive and healthy partner, and he's encouraging me to make time for me and stop pressuring myself so much to overachieve. I have major anxiety about this, and it isn't healthy, but I can't figure out how to think about it differently to NOT feel guilty.
Background:
- My parents died before I was a teen so I grew up alone in foster care (multiple single family and group homes, at least 11 foster parents if I'm remembering all of them), and the mindset was 100% "if you can lean you can clean" and "never make waves". They were convinced we were monsters in the making, even though my only "crime" was not having extended family. No one cared. THEY had earned their place in life, and we were lucky to even gaze upon them. We were paid pennies for HARD farm labor after school and on weekends/breaks from age 12+, and we had to use our own money on clothes, cleaning, personal care supplies etc. 3x I came home to CWs literally waiting in the driveway to move again. No goodbyes, no explanation, no therapy, nothing. Just my 2 trash bags of stuff in the back and off I go to convince the next "family" to let me pretend to be part of their world until I became an inconvenience. The day I graduated high school I had to pack and leave, because the state wouldn't pay a dime after that so why would anyone keep me?
It was rough, and I learned fast to make myself useful so people might attribute SOME value to having me around. People pleasing was an understatement.
I immediately married a guy with an IQ of a wet doorknob, who cannonballed into the Y2K PreppeFundamentalist deep end (kinda TradLife before TradLife was a thing) and waving around his Man Of The House patriarchy in between seasonal construction jobs that couldn't keep food on the table. We barely existed on the cusp of abject poverty and homelessness, which was encouraged as being challenged by God via our fundamentalist Baptist church, hellbent on the self-loathing puritanical mindset of "noble suffering". It was a very dysfunctional marriage that didn't last long after he turned his explosive rage onto one of our kids instead of me.
Got out of that, stumbled onto an amazing therapist, did some great work (but not nearly enough) and hopped into another bad relationship, this time with a guy I'd been in foster care with years before. Take a guess how well that went. After the love-bombing , he was an emotionally torturous spend-a-holic with a hair trigger temper who spoiled himself with the latest/greatest while guilting me for needing more than one pair shoes or inching towards any shred of dignity or self respect. Bills were paid from what I hid from him after my "grocery allowance", even though he made 70k/year. I left him when I learned he'd been grooming and hurting our kids, and he is now in prison.
Spent a long time as a single mom, LOADS of trauma therapy for myself and kids, and let myself fall in love with being single, empowered, badass etc. Eventually learned that it was okay to end a relationship that didn't work for me, even without it being abusive (!groundbreaking), and had some healthy dating experiences that ended positively. It was a breath of fresh air, and FINALLY I had the confidence to actually find a partner who matched me vs competed with me.
Met and married the most amazing guy. He's a widow, his story is in my post history if it's relevant, and without a doubt he is my person. We're a military family stationed overseas and we have a big family of his/mine/ours. Several are grown and flown and our youngest (tweens and up) are still with us. When I'm not working I do a ton of volunteering and (somewhat neurotic )projects while keeping him informed constantly of what I'm doing, which ... he doesn't ask of me at all.
But I can't stomach NOT trying to report what all I do, much less let him pitch in, because it feels like I didn't do "my job" good enough if I don't detail it and make sure he's okay with it (Hint, he always is and he feels weird that I do this). And if he has to pick up my slack I feel like I've failed and I fall apart. At the same time though I resent him making time to work out, read, enjoy hobbies, because I won't let myself carve out time to do the same (which, if I let him do his part, I'd have more time for myself..I do see that it's just not that easy emotionally?). Everyone complains that their husbands won't "help" but I have panic attacks when I "catch" him sneakily cleaning our room or doing laundry... not because he's "doing it wrong" (he was an adult long before I showed up, he's fine lol) but because it feels like I've let him down and I'm failing to contribute to the household. Yes, I'm on anxiety meds :)
See the pattern?
Adding on:
Overseas employment is HARD to land, so I haven't been able to earn a paycheck since we left the states several years ago. We are comfortable, so me working is a personal choice not a need, if that makes sense. We have excellent insurance and the kids' college is paid for thanks to his vet status, so that isn't anything to worry about anymore either. This is something I've REALLY struggled with, even though financially we are FINE. I've used my volunteer experience to build a pretty impressive resume and apply for every job I could even possibly qualify for. I never get selected, and I end up crushed. This happens every few months and it is emotionally EXHAUSTING on me, him, everything.
My husband has gently and lovingly suggested that mayyyybe I could consider pursuing some self-care for a change, instead of constantly taking care of everyone else in and out of our home. He's suggested that mayyyybe I don't HAVE to overachieve in every facet of my life, and mayyyyybe I could let myself enjoy things that I haven't had space for in a long time. It bothers him that I feel guilty about not contributing, and he's always saying how much he appreciates what I do because it's such a balance to what he is able to do, and we make a good team.
And he's right... I haven't stopped to read a book, learn something for fun, nothing, in... years? Ever? Or at least since before I had kids. I garden but only for food production/storage/canning, never flowers or anything that isn't useful. I won't even turn the TV on when I'm home alone because that feels ...frivolous I guess? Like I'm wasting time and resources? He wants me to give myself some time to just BE, for a few months, maybe even a year, and then see how I feel. He sees my need to compulsively "earn my keep" as exacerbating my anxiety, and has very lovingly suggested I practice accepting that this (us) is a permanent thing and he's never going to change his mind or turn into a monster. Yet I flat out start spiraling at the idea of him "catching" me doing nothing, and this is based on NOTHING this man has done EVER in the history of our decade-long relationship.
If I'm frank, I've spent my entire life compulsively finding ways to be useful/necessary (even when I'm not getting paid my hours are well over 40/week), and when I'm home I feel like I have to be productive/useful or I'm taking advantage of having a home and it won't last.
If you got this far, how do I take him up on this (obviously sane and rational) suggestion that I take a breather and self care for longer than a hot minute? Even thinking about it, my jaw clenches and my brain starts telling me to clean the closets and go check the laundry and (and, and and, there's always another and). I need to think about this differently somehow, so I can give this whole "settle down and relax" thing a try.

2023.03.24 07:27 STS_Gamer Strife the Scalable Wargame, my new/free wargame for playtesting
Hello all,
I just dropped my new game wargame
Strife on itch.io
Strife is a full scale wargame built to tie into RPGs and has a full book of 42 scenarios in
Make War, Not War ranging from the Seven Years' War to Superheroes fighting to save Rio to division level space invasions.
I posted them up at
https://sts-gamer.itch.io/ Strife: The Scalable Wargame Strife is what happens when your PCs are in over their head. Are your PCs running from cybernetic assassins in a blacked out urban warzone? Do you need to simulate boarding actions for piracy in the Age of Sail? Do you need a narrative combat system as background for competing organized crime families? Recreating the Battle of the Bulge? Fleet actions in off the Shoulder of Orion? All of these are battles for you to fight and win with
Strife, the Roleplaying Wargame.
Occupying the space between traditional roleplaying games and wargames,
Strife allows your PCs to become the commanders of their troops and become responsible for every aspect of the war. No longer do PCs have to be content with a small corner of the battlefield when
Strife allows PCs to master the entire war. Designed to be flexible in both scale and detail,
Strife is made to simulate dungeon crawls, platoon battles in triple canopy jungle, campaigns between hundreds of thousands of troops lasting months and fleet actions over light seconds of space.
System agnostic,
Strife can be used with any RPG or used as an alternative ruleset for any skirmish or wargame. This complementary game system is accomplished by having each layer of the game build upon previous layers. The simulation builds on the wargame, which builds on the narrative tool. There are also multiple options that are available to expand upon the gameplay for more detail or alternative mechanics. This array of tools is provided allow the GM to have as much, or as little detail as desired.
Highlights:
A setting agnostic rule set to simulate units from prehistory, fantasy, modern or science fiction
Scale agnostic and able to use almost miniatures or any scale of units or counters
A scale-based system for units, time and distance
3D combat using range, altitude and depth Unit skills determine how effective they are at battlefield tasks, not just their combat power
Tactical, Operational or Strategic scale
Hidden movement
Tactical Advantages
Morale and gaining a Moral Victory
NBC warfare
Fire Support
Weather and Terrain
Unit construction rules
A solo mode
Deliberately asymmetrical
Designed to be combined with the
Platinum RPG
What this is not:

2023.03.24 07:25 Tremaparagon Some parting thoughts about the Hyperion Cantos, particularly the conclusions in Rise of Endymion. Curious to hear if there are different interpretations out there
Overall had fun with the series - I understand some of the criticisms especially with the latter books, but still enjoyed the full read and appreciate the way a lot of things came together. This post is mainly to organize the thoughts I'm left with at the very end of it all, and see if other people agree or have totally different ideas.
TOTAL SPOILERS FOR THE ENTIRE SERIES (THROUGH TO THE END OF 'RISE') BELOW:
The romance:
Certain... questionable aspects of the Raul/Aenea relationship aside, I like how it concluded. We suspend disbelief or give benefit of the doubt to a lot in fiction. So I'm willing to roll with her being a half non-human entity that literally does not perceive spacetime as we do and has since before birth been communicating with godlike intelligences, so it's fine that she comes on to Raul, whatevs.
Instantly after she confessed to having a kid halfway through Rise, I knew what would happen and who was (would be?) the father. Despite the prediction, I don't need my expectations to be subverted, I still narratively enjoyed getting to the end of Rise and reading it all play out. Raul is a dummy for sure, and it was a bit annoying having him get angsty over... himself, but still it was pleasant to know it would be wrapped up nicely.
Time travel is always handwavy nonsense in any fiction, so I'm fine turning off my brain for it. I like to think there's some background Void-related reason, with how the Shrike can navigate time, that Aenea only has exactly 1 year, 11 months, 1 week, 6 hours, to spend on Earth. That's the amount of time that she would age (read: time she as a conscious being has for experiencing existence) between her post-Earth adventures spreading communion, and when she would prepare to meet Raul again on Tien Shan, at the critical period for toppling the Pax before too much genocide and war led to humanity's implosion.
It doesn't need to have a "hard sci-fi" explanation behind it to be profound. What matters is the deeply somber, ruminative state I'm left with when thinking about how each of them has a different final goodbye. It hits hard trying to wrap my brain around them perceiving their relationship in different orders (as paralleled with Kassad and Moneta).
The ninja blender 9000:
What was your impression of the final and "complete" backstory of the Shrike? I felt that in the first two books, Kassad's story seemed a little unimportant/disconnected. He vanquishes the thing in the far future only with the help and combat tech of far future humans - as far as the current story is concerned why do we care?
However, books 3 and 4 give us more to chew on. I don't remember how much is explicitly stated, but in my headcanon at least, his victory is part of taming it - wrestling full control of it away from the more hostile Core elements or the future machine UI. This goes hand in hand with a brief hint from Aenea's father - he states that he plans to leave the Consul and go forward a few hundred years to disrupt the Core and help his daughter. Surely he played a major part in turning the Shrike from a villain into a guardian?
To me this connection of pilgrims fits nicely - Kassad the warrior subdued the Shrike (and was a seed for its creation), while in the time of books 3 and 4, the Keats cybrid was directing it to be an infallible escort to Aenea. Without their roles, then of course with Nemes-level tech the Core would easily stamp out Aenea's quest. This fits with the Shrike being apparently curious about everyone's safe arrival on the uncharted forest planet despite having no reason to be there.
Blue man group:
Admittedly I feel as dumb as Raul for being blind to Bettik's identity until the last few pages. Now it all makes sense. It's pretty great that he was written to be an observer character from the beginning and always in proximity to such pivotal events in history. Plus his reveal at the end gives a morsel of substance to the mostly mythical big kitties and bears of the void. In hindsight there is now more justification to him sticking with Aenea through it all, even during times when Raul was sent off.
Everything else:
I loved the world-building for the most part. It suffered a bit in book 4 when things were mostly established, and more time was spent instead on metaphysics mumbo jumbo. But I'm probably not alone in saying the cruciform was fascinating from the very beginning of Hyperion. It continued to be interesting with Endymion and how it related to the Pax: the ship drive that required resurrection, the way it continued to be a parasite, how it functioned as the most viscerally agonizing shock collar possible on every single Christian, etc.
The fall of the farcasters was neat. It was definitely a good hook to have the ominous message go out at the end of Fall of Hyperion. And then, the use of farcasters for Aenea to escape insurmountable odds was pretty fun too. The River Tethys journey ... loosely makes sense. The uncharted forest planet was needed to hide the ship safely. Perhaps they were then directed to the non-Christian planets to see and understand the horrors of what was going on, and as Raul mentions to learn their "music" for future visits. Plus this twice allowed Raul to get medical attention without getting immediately shut down by Pax.
I suppose there are some loose ends left still with things like the continued presence of the Core and the small fraction of remaining Pax loyalists. We know that this is only one chapter in a war that will continue for eons. If Lourdusamy is still with the Pax and not the new "woke" humanity, is it only for personal greed and power rather than loyalty to the Pax-Core alliance? After all he did seem to take a calculated move against the Core by quickly burning Aenea, preventing them from having Nemes chew her little by little until she couldn't help but freecast, thus he prevented them from gaining information from her ability.
Any elaborations, rebuttals, or totally different points of discussion from y'all?

2023.03.24 07:22 LuluBello did my psychiatrist mess up or something? had an appointment a month ago for ADHD
Not sure if this is the right place for this so let me know if not -
so I had the appointment a month ago. It was to assess my likelihood of ADHD as an adult (22F). I also live in Australia. Not sure if relevant.
Anyway. The documentation that got sent to my GP was just enough for me to start/trial Vyvanse (30mg). But my GP commented that she kind of expected more information from him. She deals with other mental health patients, and ADHD patients specifically all the time so I'd assume she knows what to expect.
At the time it was only a week after the assessment so we thought we would wait. I only saw my GP a month later to check back in about how the meds were going and if I should continue - which I decided to do.
( Quick tangent, feel free to skip - on the meds I feel pretty good. Some of my habits are still terrible but I just feel so much more capable? Before I was so low on motivation all the time. I just thought it was tiredness, thought I was like, chronically sleepy or something. And irritible (because of the sleepiness). But now I kinda realise it wasn't really tiredness, it was a complete and utter lack of motivation, and a complete and utter incapability to be motivated. I feel better now. And I feel like I can apply myself if I try. I still ofc get a bit grumpy if I find the task annoying or boring - but like... I no longer have that constant feeling of "I should be doing something else right now". Its great ! )
Anyway, I got my repeat prescription and at the time asked my GP if any more documentation had been sent through from the psychiatrist. She said no, that maybe this is all the psychiatrist had, and that maybe I should call them up if I wanted more - that they could at least give me the forms I filled out, the DIVA, etc. History, and stuff.
So I called. They forwarded me to the booking coordinator for the psychiatrist in question.
This may be unrelated but when the booking coordinator picked up she was talking about booking me in with an appointment and sending me the charge and I had to be quickly like, no, please don't, I just had a question.
I assumed it was because she was busy. She said so herself that she had to go to a meeting in a few minutes as soon as the call started after all. So I don't think there's anything weird there... but it just feels a little weird in hindsight after what happens later.
So she told me to send an email through detailing what I wanted. I did. And I received a call from her shortly later and it was weird?
Its kinda a blurr since she talks fast - but she was saying that the email had been forwarded to the psychiatrist. And then also went onto say that he can rewrite the report (?).
She tried to confirm the purpose of my query and I told her - that like, honestly I don't know how these things go. I just wanted something a bit more cement, just more details about my assessment. I get mad imposter syndrome all the time and the fact my GP confirms that the psychiatrist didn't send much documentation kinda just makes it feel worse.
The booking coordinator also said something like I can go leave feedback for him on the website -which felt a bit jarring to me. I got worried that she thought I was angry or something so I just told her lightheartedly that I wasn't complaining I just was asking genuinely if there was more documentation because honestly I wouldn't know. I have never been diagnosed with ADHD before.
Even my previous "diagnosis" for depression only occurred after I had a break down at the doctors office and they were just like, yep, give her prozac. Which could be fine, I have no idea. Honestly the prozac worked for a good while so yeah.
Anyway, they probably won't get back to me until next week. That's all good and cheery, I wasn't expecting immediate action especially since its a Friday. But I am a bit worried now.
I honestly am fine if there isn't much more documentation from that one assessment. If I need to be assessed further then thats fine. I stated as much in the email, and the psychiatrist will get back to me on that, but...
Perhaps if I want further assessment, I wonder if I should see another psychiatrist? The whole encounter makes me feel a bit worried and now I wonder if I should get a second opinion from a different psychiatrist.
Just - if anyone can say whether this sounds like normal protocol? Or if anyone with experience in that area could say whether its sounds odd or not?
It could be that the booking coordinator was very stressed and worried and so she came off oddly. But yeah. I have no idea. Will likely discuss this more with my GP when I see her next.
Maybe the way the psychiatrist responds will alleviate my concerns, so will have to wait and see.

- Learn about the future of media and code — the front-end and backend of the internet — so you can focus your efforts.
- Understand digital leverage, distribution, no-code tools, and digital assets so you can take part in the mental & financial wealth transfer.
Phase 1) Creating A Meaningful Niche Every day I hear people going on and on about trying to find their niche.I also hear people talking about how they don’t know how to combine what they love talking about with *what will sell.*You already have the answer.
**That they are congruent with and trust.**It has to change their thought patterns or behavior — that’s what makes you memorable.
In Phase 4, I will show you how to systemize, automate, and be consistent with simple will be able to make money without having the chance of forgetting to do it (or letting fear of failure get in the way). - Learn to sell on social media, in your writing, and across different platforms.
- Have consistent sales coming in while focusing on your meaningful message (no need to sound salesy all the time).
- Learn advanced automation strategies that you can implement at your own pace, especially once you validate your offer.
Bonus) The Creator Command Center The Creator Command Center is a Notion template that houses all of the systems. This is how you will manage your brand, content, offer creation, marketing strategy, and systemized promotions for consistent sales. Bonus) Live Product Build & Launch In the first Digital Economics Cohort, I built out my course The 2 Hour Writer.I have videos showing how I build it with the strategies in phase 3 and 4.There is a bonus module that shows how I had an $85,000 launch that resulted in my first $100K month.I did this to prove the strategies inside Digital Economics work if you stick to the plan.***And, this past Black Friday, I blew my that monthly high out of the water in 4 days.***That’s the power of these strategies if you stay consistent with your life’s work. submitted by AutoModerator to Affordable_Courses [link] [comments] |
2023.03.24 07:17 throwRA_boltingasap My (28f) husband (32m) is incredibly abusive. I had plans to leave and start over, but they got messed up and now I'm confused on what to do.
.
This is a throw away. Not sure if he knows my username but I don't wanna risk it.
My partner of 13 years is an abusive prick. It didn't happen immediately, it was a few years in to the relationship, but my dumbass stayed. So he kept doing it. The first time he hit me, I couldn't even move. Or breath. I just sat there in shock, with the words LEAVE. RUN AWAY. NEVER COME BACK!!! Just screaming at me in my head. But I couldn't move. My legs just wouldn't listen to me. And then I just ended up breaking down and crying uncontrollably, having a severe panic attack where I legitimately was not able to breath. Well that scared him or something, I guess, idfk, and he tried to comfort me. Hold me and calm me down. And then once I settled down, he started crying, how guilty he felt, he feels so bad, etc. And I fell for it. I comforted him. I comforted the man who had just given me a black eye. I told him it was okay. And I've hated myself ever since. Can't even look at myself sometimes. And then from then on, it's happened more and more, more often now. I've had black eyes. He busted my scalp open once with a gun. Luckily, there are no longer any firearms in the house. I had an accident years ago and still have problems with my hip, it locks up sometimes if I lay on that side too long. He knows this and has intentionally tried to hurt me in that particular spot.
The verbal abusive is way more common and can even be more helpful. He knows every single insecurity you have. He know exactly what to say to hurt you the most, and he'll say it just to hurt you. Things I've begged him before to not talk about. He's bipolar and has a severe anger issue, and the verbal abuse is just about a daily occurrence. I wake up every single day terrified of what mood he will be in. When he hit my dog, my sweet, beautiful, most perfect girl in the world, Hazel, I promised her I'd get us out. And I intended to keep that promise.
He's never let me work, at least not enough to support myself full time. We have no children, thankfully, just the dog, who I will 100 percent be taking with me. I mostly just babysit or dog walk for the neighbors sometimes. I set up some of the money transfer apps for myself and got debit cards for them that I had shipped to a neighbor, that I knew would come bring them to me when she got them and he was at work. So he doesn't know about those. So I started stashing money away. $10-20 at a time. My sister lives 7.5 hours away, and has a room for me and can get me a full time job with her. The car is solely in my name, so he can't stop me from taking it. So, I saved up enough to put enough gas in the car for the drive with a little extra to live on while I start working and get settled. My sister is in a really bad financial situation too after a break up and could really use the help with the rent and such. I had everything planned out. I was gonna leave and never look back on Monday morning. He works from home mostly, but has to go in to the office on Monday. It's my only chance for idk how long.
And then Hazel got sick. She required surgery, she was having severe kidney issues and her vet was preparing me for the worst. But I couldn't NOT try. After all the times she's protected me. Thrown herself in between us and taken hits meant for me. How could I abandon her or not take care of her after she's saved my life?? He was choking me so hard one day, I genuinely thought okay well this is it. And she bit him. And he stopped. He took his rage out on her, and you know that scene in Avatar The Last Airbender when Aang realizes Appa is gone, and finds out the sand benders muzzled him? And he goes full on avatar state? Yeah. That's what happened with me. Every single ounce of strength I had came out and I knocked him down. But it was worth it. Anyway. Saving her wiped out every bit of money I had saved, except for like ten bucks. I can't go. I can't out the gas in my car. I can't get a bus ticket. I don't have a credit card, I ruined my credit at 18 and am only now working on it now. I have nothing to pawn or sell. I got a smart TV from my mom for Christmas but it's not a nice one or something, just a small 24inch off brand one, but I've posted it on fb marketplace for like $50. But that won't cover the gas. It would get me further, though. That's IF I sell it. My sister can't help, she needs me to help her out when I get there. Mom is on a very fixed income, and barely covers her own expenses. That's it as far as family. I don't have many friends at all. But I have asked. I either got ghosted or told no. I can't donate plasma. Idk what to do. I can't wait months again. I can't stand it. But I have no where to go but my sister's house. What can I do?????
Tldr had a plan to leave my husband and now it's not happy and I have no idea what to do

2023.03.24 07:08 STS_Gamer Platinum and Strife, a new TTRPG and Wargame set
Hello all,
I just dropped my two new games
Platinum and
Strife.
Platinum is an RPG rules set heavily based on BRP and D100 roll under skill based mechanics designed to be modular and easily hackable to and from other systems.
Strife is a full scale wargame built to tie into RPGs, specifically
Platinum, but can work with other systems.
Strife has a full book of scenarios ranging from the Seven Years' War to Superheroes fighting to save Rio to space invasions.
I posted them all up at
https://sts-gamer.itch.io/ Platinum RPG: Platinum is a set of D100 rules that was designed to be easily hacked with bits and pieces of other games. If you like something from another game, add it in or replace it. Take parts from
Champions/Hero,
Palladium,
D20 and others. There is no reason to be limited in your creativity by being shackled to arbitrary rules.
These rules are a guideline, but this is not a narrative game, rules light or a story first system and has rules for many situations and campaign types. Extensive rules for skills, combat, experience, free-form magic and tools for various settings and worldbuilding are given in this book.
Combined with its companion wargame
Strife, you can play at any scale from individual to fleets of ships in the age of sail or prowling the vastness of space.
Platinum is made to inspire you and guide you into creating the campaign that you and your players want.
Highlights:
Fast character creation with as much or as little customization as you want
Percentile based skill system
Classless system
Fast and lethal combat for characters and vehicles
Modular rules, use what you want, ignore what you don’t without changing the core gameplay
Easily conversion from and to other systems including
Basic Roleplaying,
Storyteller,
D20, etc.
If you can describe it, you can build it
Designed to be combined with
Strife, the Scalable Wargame Strife: the Scalable Wargame
---------------
Strife: The Scalable Wargame Strife is what happens when your PCs are in over their head.
Balanced for tournament play

Bonus) The Creator Command Center The Creator Command Center is a Notion template that houses all of the systems. This is how you will manage your brand, content, offer creation, marketing strategy, and systemized promotions for consistent sales. Bonus) Live Product Build & Launch In the first Digital Economics Cohort, I built out my course The 2 Hour Writer.I have videos showing how I build it with the strategies in phase 3 and 4.There is a bonus module that shows how I had an $85,000 launch that resulted in my first $100K month.I did this to prove the strategies inside Digital Economics work if you stick to the plan. And, this past Black Friday, I blew my that monthly high out of the water in 4 days. That’s the power of these strategies if you stay consistent with your life’s work. submitted by AutoModerator to Agency_Navigator_Gadz [link] [comments] |
2023.03.24 06:50 Brandenwadeart M29/F22 - I think my 9 month relationship needs to end…
Wow, looking at the title of this post is fucking terrifying. But no one starts a long-term relationship expecting to feel this way. My girlfriend and I met on Facebook Dating, the same as my previous, very short relationship which will have its relevance in this post.
I am 29 and my girlfriend is 22. I’m a metal-head, an aspiring tattoo artist, a horror movie fanatic and a fantasy and science fiction nerd. My girlfriend loves Hello Kitty, the color pink, TikTok, Taylor Swift and Harry Styles. I smoke weed and my girlfriend quit smoking and wishes I didn’t. Besides the truly traumatic fights we’ve had (which because I’m a red-flag artist, they’ve mostly been due to some destructive habitual bad habits and erratic behavior of mine), I don’t think we have anything in common and I don’t think we understand each other.
Besides my girlfriend playing in my Dungeons & Dragons campaign (which was really the only activity we spent hours doing together, sometimes she’ll watch me play video games which is sweet), it’s confirmed that my girlfriend doesn’t like any of music, doesn’t like my artwork outside of appreciating it because I’m her boyfriend (it’s very horror-esque) and has no interest in talking about history, philosophy, science, or really any of my interests at all. I also am getting exhausted of watching Dance Moms and The Office but I don’t know what else we can watch together and enjoy. We also have sex like once a month.
This evening, I showed my girlfriend some album art (Feeding the Wolves, 10 Years) that I really want to get tattooed on my right shoulder and she looked at it blankly and said “I personally don’t like it but I think it’s cool that you do.” It was just a paint and ink drawing of a wolf’s head. I don’t want to paint my girlfriend in a bad light in any way which is what makes this so truly terrifying. She is a huge advocate for mental health and has been a really supportive partner. I just can’t help but think of what would happen if I ran into someone who enjoyed history or science or horror art or even black and white movies because my girlfriend refuses to watch those as well. It’s just hard.
OK, so we don’t enjoy to do the same activities together but there are plenty of couples who don’t share the same interests and have a (successful?) relationship. I don’t know, I don’t think I agree with that and I don’t know if I should or if that standard is republican traditionalist bullshit. A lot of hesitation has come from not knowing if what I want is not OK because of relationship norms. Unfortunately, there’s more issues than just us being people who would never get together if we spent time as friends first. So, here goes.
My girlfriend has severe OCD and will cry if I misplace something or put something in the wrong place or knock something over. I’m a scatterbrained neurodivergent with ADHD and that’s probably not going to change. I think it’s ridiculous and it’s making home life incredibly stressful, not to mention having no privacy because if I don’t go to bed at the same time as her, she has a tantrum. I hate to sound apathetic but I’m almost 30. I don’t want to babysit my girlfriend. I feel like an asshole but I think that’s well in my rights to feel that way. I just have felt like I can’t breathe lately.
So about the previous relationship and how it’s affecting my current one. I dated a Wiccan who listens to Tool and Alternative Rock and Metal. We took walks in the graveyard, we played video games, we played board games, we smoked and talked about philosophy. We fell asleep listening to my favorite band Antimatter… which my girlfriend has flat-out told me she can’t stand. My previous girlfriend was incredibly verbally abusive but I can’t help but think about her all the fucking time. She nourished a part of me that is incredibly suppressed-feeling now.
The absolute worst part is that I moved for her. I first moved into her trailer where all the nightmare fights took place (crying, screaming etc.) and now I’m living in the house she bought. I work and help with fixing the place up and every responsibility a good boyfriend should do but fuck, how do I get out of this if I need to? My friends are an hour and a half from here and I have no one but my girlfriend and her family. I feel incredibly trapped.
And now at the end of this, I’ll share my plan. I have an individual therapist and we also have a couples therapist. I want to ask my therapist for help on how to do it and share how I feel in a place where we both feel safe - couples therapy. I don’t know if I should live here and help her with the house use she doesn’t feel alone or if I should make plans for getting a studio apartment. I still can’t believe I’m even considering these options.
If anyone could provide me with some thoughts or advice or insight, I’d really, really appreciate it.

2023.03.24 06:42 Reika_Fujishima [AETHER][MIDGARDSORMR][FC][LFM] JOIN AZURE INFINITUM! A Growing, Global, Inclusive, Active, Organized, and Friendly Community Awaits You! Welcoming Players Of All Experience, Availability, & Play-Style!
We are Azure Infinitum
Visit us at: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/)
You may have seen us in the Aether data center's party finder during our weekly events, or may have seen our recruitment shouts around the realm in-game in Midgardsormr, but there just isn't enough space in those places to really explain everything wonderful about what our Free Company and community is.
Azure Infinitum is an LGBTQ+ friendly community, and welcomes players of all experience level, play style, and availability. We're a warm home with a balance of online players, weekly optional activities, and flexible ranks from our membership, to our support & leadership categories. We have a 24/7 Support Team, a Councilship that governs each tier, seasonal events of our own, and many resources between the games we support and online services.
Who We Are
We are an established 9-year old community who's home is in Midgardsormr Server of Final Fantasy XIV. We are a structured, well-rounded, welcoming, friendly, and organized community that hosts daily events (check out our calendar: https://azureinfinitum.com/events/ ) that provide opportunity for members to excel. We work to provide an arena and opportunities to establish strong bonds and camaraderie between our members. As a community we are driven, we carry each other forward, and we are proud.
Our Name & Philosophy
Learn more about our global community here: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/aboutus/)
Learn more about our FFXIV Free Company here: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/ourffxivfc/)
Azure Infinitum means "Azure/Blue Infinity or Infinite Blue/Azure" and there is some mythos behind the name that stems from our guild-wide philosophy of kindness, freedom, vigilance, diversity and activity. We promote positive fellowship among members in an organized guild, with our sights open to our unending endless skies, full of possibility and success together.
Our motto is "As Free As The Azure Sky!" which stuck well when our FC was restructured from an old guild in 2014 as Azure was founded, and it was first shouted as we looked out at a clear blue sky above. has continued to be our electric victory as we continue to snowball in success and activity, our members soaring high through the Azure Sky, flying together!
Ranks
Click here to learn more about our community ranks: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/ranks/)
Our community has an organized ranking structure beginning with Members who comprise the majority of the roster. Scouts are our support team of Members who've stepped up to more officially support the FC, some work on obtaining a future leadership rank. Lieutenants and Officers comprise the proud Azure Council, a diverse group of players of different specialties and services to the FC, making up lower and higher tier leadership, seeing over the Scouts and the FC weekly events, aside from being admins. The FC Infinitum Master oversees all and leads the Azure Council and the company forward while always keeping the heart and vision of the community alive and in sight. Currently we are re-assessing ranks in the free company, giving more support permissions and duties to our Scouts, while the current council operates as a small team of Lieutenants lead by the FC Master.
Everyone Welcome and Who Fits Best
We have an open door policy. Whether you're casual, a returning player, a veteran, or a newbie, we have a vast array of players in our member roster. Our weekly schedule is organized and provides an array of activity for players of most levels, however we like to ask players who're pretty new or under the level cap, to be extra vocal about their needs while they're still unable to attend some daily events or higher level content that most of our weekly lineup focuses on. We want everyone to have as much fun as possible and have the most success. We find that most players enjoy Azure Infinitum, many have stated that they subscribed to FFXIV much longer than they ever would have imagined after they have been around in our community, as they've gotten involved and experienced all that we offer.
Our FC keeps a daily schedule (see here: https://www.azureinfinitum.com/events/) of events that are hosted by permitted Scouts and Council ranks, these range from 8-man and 24-man raids and map parties, to WT journal groups and trial clear parties or farms, and more- and attending anything isn't mandatory at all here. We're happy to have you, and its up to our members how much they'd like to get involved. Attendance is optional! There's never any stress to attend FC functions.
Savage Raiding Statement
We find that some hardcore raiders looking for free companies just to join their statics who don't already have one, might not fit well if savage raiding is their only or greatest focus, because traditionally Azure does not have a Savage Static, but focuses more on allowing members to organize their own groups and also provides resources to do so. Despite not supporting an official static for the FC, we hope that hardcore raiders enjoy the wealth of our community's wealth of harmony and overall fun, and that everyone may take initiative to seek out or build a raiding static within our community if they are interested, as opposed to missing out on experiencing Azure. Depending on the content season, we may have an Unofficial static lead by a leader, and routinely offer limited time Savage-learning events that may run for a number of months.
Rules and No Drama Policy
Please take a moment to look over our Rules Page at (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/rules/), we find that rude individuals and people who create drama are the outsiders here that don't fit well. We know its a big page, so at least visit the General Rules section before joining.
Recruitment Care & Activity
People of Azure Infinitum are often if not always good natured players who found their way to our community looking for a place with structure, friendliness, organization, and great activity, or they've been scouted during recruitment drives and have been well screened. Its a place where one can be social and attend everything, or relax in the background and enjoy the services and facilities of being in an active, organized, and friendly FC. We actively recruit periodically to assist with upkeep of community activity levels, and to meet new comrades. A community that closes recruitment can be doomed to stagnation. Its normal for a community to have an inner core of die hards who log in daily regardless of content releases, and also have an outer core of individuals that range from those with less availability to those who check in during Patches. This is why we take extra care in keeping the fresh blood flowing into Azure, cautious recruitment, and support our active model by always staying welcoming and sometimes running recruitment campaigns and other services. Handling Online Drama
Because we keep a no-drama policy and have a strong communication network, it is leadership's ultimate priority to handle any issues that may come up as soon as possible, and most people appreciate our problem solving which has inspired many other communities. Between our Support & Leadership ranks, we use a number of report and resource channels to handle situations, and perform problem solving protocols & tactics to fairly address issues as possible. Drama is inevitable at some point for any online community, so its important to have a large and strong list of moderators (currently around 60!) and a council of leaders (15+) to quickly handle any problems. Luckily, we don't have a lot of drama, but we're always very well equipped and very prepared. Our community has been commended by game staff in the past for our methods, and we have worked with the FFXIV Special Task Force to ensure as much safety to our community as achievable. It should be stressed that it is up to our membership to report to GM's in-game, and to Azure Leadership should any issues or concerns come up. Its also highly recommended that our members appropriately document evidence that can be used to help us assess situations and make proper decisions. Documenation such as screenshots of harassment is a great example! Our members online safety is greatly important to us and is a number one concern of our leadership team. Our Rules Page at: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/rules/) describes a bit more in Chapter 3, including other entries on avoiding/ignoring trolls, playing while intoxicated, depression, and more.
Our Philosophy
We believe in our community and its people, how far we can go, how much we can do for each other, being an experienced community who's core values are positive fellowship, formation of bonds, and indomitable unity.
Azure Infinitum tightly grasps success and masters a casual and lucrative weekly play schedule while inspiring motivation and providing avenues for further success, friendships, and camaraderie among all who freely fly together among our Azure skies.
Founding on the principles of intricately forging a generally drama-free experience with keen leadership and a zealous and mighty membership, Azure has striven to guide and support many hundreds of players through every era of Final Fantasy XIV.
With an illustrious history, company lore, impressive statistics, and a model that is adaptable and blessed with innovative ability, Azure Infinitum claims a dominant presence of excellence and player growth that is possible in our community and extended services.
Estate Organization
We have the entire set-up at our estate, from gardens for members and Krakka Root production (free for members' chocobos), to our stables, nicely uniform clean lawn with hangout spots that are popular, with crafting stations, all available NPCs for simple mats and repairs, cut-scene viewer, toybox, triple-triad board, a fully operational and geared fleet of airships and subs, and our Azure Infinitum Assembly Chamber on the top floor for our meetings where announcements are made at our Grand Assemblies. Check it out if you like at Mist Ward 7 Plot 1.
We also have an organized form of gathering for weekly events in the yard, places to relax, food that is always available on tables at our Cellar, and hold a lot of special events and social games at our Hall. We're also conveniently located next to a Market Board and a Retainer Bell outside of our estate.
Communication and Extended Azure Services
We have multiple services of which none are mandatory, but we provide being (azureinfinitum.com) where our Forums, Event Calendar, News, Company Meeting Summaries, Seasonal Merch Giveaways, Contests, Rules Page, and more take place and can be found. We also have a popular and active Discord Server.
We also have a Facebook Group, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Steam Group, (Look us up! Or visit: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/socialmedia/) and Linkshells like our Infinitum Alliance LS for contact and aid from our allies if needed, our Azure Hunters LS for Hunters, and our Azure Industry LS which connects our members to our inner crafting/gathering community for newbies to pros.
Also worthy of mention is our big Company Meetings in-game, known as Azure Infinitum Grand Assemblies. Even though we have several avenues that keep people connected, our live assemblies gather the FC in unity where announcements are made first, and all proposals, ideas, and more, can be decided together live with the Azure Council present.
This network ensures a lot of information and communication gets around and has been exceedingly useful to us.
More On Events
One part of our reputation that often precedes us is our event crafting and hosting.
First, let me make sure its clear that attendance is never mandatory, but those who can make use, when possible, of what we provide each day, benefit from our events each week.
Since our beginning, traditions like our Thursday Treasure Thursdays events have run each week. Our weekly line-up presently begins on Tuesdays post-weekly reset, and consists of Raid Tuesdays, Wondrous Wednesdays (WT Journal Parties, often doubles as Trial Clears and Pony Drops), Treasure Thursdays (Endwalker's timeworn maps with groups of 8 doing up to 3 rounds of maps allowing for up to 24 maps ran), 24-Man Tuesdays (full pre-formed Azure 24-member alliances are made and raids are cleared, will be returning upon the release of EW's 24-man), Super Azure Slayer Sunday (our weekly meetup to do all sorts of PVP content be it Rival Wings or Frontline), and Monstrous Mondays (helps clear the current and previous patch extreme trials).
Special, Seasonal, and Quarterly Events
More info here: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/azureday/)See the latest event news & more at: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/news/)
We also have what we call Special and Quarterly Events. These types of events are Weekend-Long-Events that usually consist of a theme or celebratory social events we craft. During these events we hold big Riddle Races, Costume/Glamour shows and contests, 3-Story Mansion Maze Races, Speedrun Dungeon Races, Hide and Seek games, Custom Quest Events, Discord events like Cards Against Humanity nights, Comedy events, PVP Tournament Circuits, and more.
Our Special and Quarterly events are Azure Day Weekend (Takes place 3 times a year across a weekend, celebrates the FC), Azure Summer Festival (3-days at the end of August in partnership with Child's Play, raises money for children in long-term care, anniversary of historic FC event called the Lunar Rebellion), Anniversary Azure Day (a big weekend event in November that celebrates our Founding), Azure Day Saint's Wake (celebrates Halloween/All Saint's Wake), Azure Starlight Day (celebrating Starlight Day/Christmas/December Holiday Season), Azure Grand Melee and Duel Tournaments (PVP Circuit series crowning our PVP Champions) and more.
Azure Day Weekends
If you've been around our server you may have heard of our Azure Day Weekends. Our Azure Days take place quarterly as mentioned just above, with four evolved editions called Azure Summer Festival, Azure Day Saint's Wake, Azure Starlight Day, and Anniversary Azure Day. With Azure Day Weekends and related events traditionally occuring quarterly our members are always excited to see the next big weekend of crazy and fun social games, and our showering of the free company in gil and prizes galore. We go all out when we celebrate the free company, and Azure Days are another way we find for leadership to give back to the community. 2023 and beyond is now host to additional seasonal Azure Day events!
We're always giving our members a chance to have fun, win big, and make some great memories in the in-game family we've become. Something fun is always on the horizon in Azure.
Community
I almost can't stress enough how friendly our community is. We have a vast variety of members from hardcore gatherers and crafters, social butterflies, chill veterans, experienced raiders, level grinders, support teams, PVP aficionados, mechanic specialists, and mentors. We're also very friendly to all casual players as well and we keep an open door so long as recruits are always aware that we have a no-drama tolerance here.
Evolution into a Gaming Clan & Network
Plans are in the works and foundations are being laid that is slowly turning our community into a larger gaming network, with our first established Azure Wing with regular occurring activity being founded in Monster Hunter World, this has led to a successful Destiny 2 clan and more. Becoming a member of our Discord and/or Free Company now means access to things like our huge discord, Azure Wing membership in other games, and being able to join in on any of our other activities in the general community. Azure Network as its being called at the moment, is growing with an all-new website and community features for playing together across Final Fantasy XIV and to Azure Skies beyond!
Activity
We rank high as one of the top FC's in Worldwide Activity on lodestone, and have for a long time. Most of our players are divided between the US East and West Coasts, members in East and West Canada, and a few outside the US or in EU or Aus zones. Because we do have an activity policy (mentioned below) we keep a standard flow of people, and have crowds in the early morning, late morning, early afternoon, afternoon, evening, and late night crowds.
Elitism isn't our style. Our community boasts a broad range of characters, great personalities, the proud, and also some silly goofs. But elitism isn't welcome, no matter how successful we are or how large we grow. We're always welcoming towards fresh faces interested in joining our guild, and the in-game activity ranges between 30-60+ online at once during prime time hours, sometimes around 70+ on patch days, and usually always with half the roster logging in throughout a 24 hour period, and around 15-30+ during the night.
Activity Policy
We ask that our members do not go missing without logging in for more than 60 days straight. If we hear word from someone or have some kind of decent excuse, we place our members on our On Vacation rank, which lasts presently until 90 days have passed. Exceptions are made for military deployments, hospital stays, financial issues, disability/health related issues, moving, or other reasons that might fall on a case-by-case basis.
All members not heard from in 60 days (roughly 2 months) or currently 90 days (roughly 3 months) are discharged. We allow 3 joins to Azure Infinitum in total, but exceptions can be made due to reasons listed above. If removed for inactivity, or you've left our FC for another reason and haven't already joined 3 times, you're always welcome back, but please remember, we are not a revolving door.
Keeping our roster full of members who have been online and presently play the game actively ensures an active environment for our players who play often. It also keeps our credits and clerical processes balanced across our network, and allows space for new faces to join our big happy in-game family of comrades.
