Hey everyone, Apologies for the long read, I am on day 13 of symptoms, so almost two weeks. And everyone’s posts of recovery and what they did to aid that helped me so much, I wanted to add my own for those just being diagnosed and looking for help, hope and support. This illness is scary, painful, and exhausting. It is genuinely, by far, the worst thing I have ever been through. This isn’t going to be true for everyone, as this illness affects us all differently, but I wanted to share.
May 24th, I noticed my throat felt funny. I looked at my throat with my phone flashlight in the mirror and noticed my tonsils were a bit swollen, wasn’t concerned, I had just traveled to PA from Fl for a wedding, was having allergy issues all week, figured it was from that.
Went to work the next day, was completely fine, tonsils still bugging me but didn’t check them again until I was home. Vastly more swollen, plus some white on them now, slightly concerned at this point. But strep had just gone through my office at work.
I had Friday off, assuming it was strep, went into urgent care to get antibiotics and be on with my life. (Little did I know) The assistant swabbed my throat, Doc comes in, feels my lymphnodes, looks at my throat and goes “we’ll finish the test for strep, but I’m telling you now I think it’s mono” PANIC. Mono? How do I have mono?? Strep is negative. They do a monospot. It’s positive. Leave urgent care a wreck and go to my boyfriends as planned. Tell him we can’t kiss or share anything even tho I kissed him two days before I got diagnosed lol but better to try to be safe from here on.
Saturday - Monday I stayed at my boyfriends, progressively getting a worse and worse sore throat.
I go home Monday night, and I am MISERABLE, my parents bring every trick in the book for things for me to take, gargle, etc.
Tuesday, feel worse, I go to urgent care AGAIN, tested for strep and mono AGAIN. Test positive for only mono AGAIN. Get prescribed 5 day oral steroids. Miserable. No sleep.
Wednesday. Home alone, crying, in pain, panicking, just wanting to eat something, talk to my parents, talk to my boyfriends mom (who had mono as a kid), talk to my boyfriend, end up going back to my boyfriends city (an hour and a half away) to go to the ER. ER tells me the same thing as everyone. Mono, it sucks, suck it up and suffer for 2-4 weeks, we can’t do anything.
Thursday - Sunday, the throat pain got worse everyday, I’ve barely slept since Monday, I am crying everyday, can barely drink water, drooling at night (threw said pillow away) because I can’t swallow any spit without physical flinching from how bad it hurts. Gotta throw in some cred here to the bf tho, he was an absolute God send through all of this. Thank God mono isn’t super easy to transfer as long as you’re careful about saliva and whatnot, because he would hold me while I was sobbing because it hurt so bad. Brought me tea with honey several times a day. Got me soft foods, popsicles. Took absolutely incredible care of me and I can’t thank him enough.
Saturday by far was the WORST day for me, convinced myself I had an abscess in my tonsil bc the pain got so unbearably bad. I think I cried for 4 hours straight. Called my mom sobbing. Never in my life have I been on the ground crying in pain just saying “make it stop” over and over again. Told my bf we’re going to the ER again the next day and I slept on the couch that night, took 2000MG of acetaminophen, mentioned the couch for a reason… I let myself drool as much as needed that night, and forced myself to sleep. I got the more sleep that night than I had in 9 days.
Finally, wake up feeling somewhat better, It still hurt, but my pain went from a 12/10, to about a 7/10. Swelling in my tonsils had gone down. I could drink water again without physically recoiling in pain. Slept a few more hours throughout that day. Slept ANOTHER full night that night (less drooling lol)
Today (technically yesterday as it’s 1am) was by far my best day. I was able to go out to eat with my boyfriend, ate soft tacos!! Did some small tasks around the house to help clean up after literally laying in bed for 6 days straight. I’m not sure if it’s from lack of sleep or if the fatigue is kicking in (I’ve seen a lot of people say they get the fatigue once the sore throat clears up) but I’d do one task and then go lay down. But I’m also being VERY careful to not overdo it and make myself go backwards until I’m 100% again.
I’m planning to go home tomorrow, and back to work Wednesday.
As for treatments and advice in pain management and help for symptoms, here is what I used;
Salt water 1/2 tsp, apple cider vinegar 1 tsp, 8oz of warm water (I never measured lol) gargle this ever hour if you want to, I know I did. I only did salt water until Friday though, my dad told me about the apple cider vinegar.
Virgin coconut oil, again didn’t measure, people say 1-3 teaspoons, I used one scoop of a regular spoon mixed into warm water to melt it, I tried to just use it but the texture was gross. I would take one swig and gargle for as long as I could, then drink the rest of the cup, 3 times a day. Started this on Thursday. Although Saturday was my worst day, I do credit this a lot.
PROTEIN SHAKES, my boyfriends parents got me protein shakes delivered to the house bc I literally stopped eating. I was drinking those religiously. They (somehow) hurt less than water and saliva going down and gave me some strength. Premier protein vanilla shakes taste amazing, 30g of protein per shake, plus immune support. They were a life saver.
Acetaminophen, 3000mg per day is the recommended technical limit, I was in so much pain I didn’t care, I am NOT recommending you od on painkillers. But I was taking 2-3 500mg pills, every 4-6 hours, they’d help, somewhat.
Throat numbing spray, this genuinely only helped for max 10 minutes, but it was something when the pain got really bad.
Brushing your teeth/mouthwash, not sure for how many others, but when the infection on my tonsils was at its worst thurs-Sun I could actually TASTE it, it made my mouth feel and taste disgusting. I found brushing my teeth and swishing/gargling with alcohol free mouthwash a couple times a day helped a ton with this.
Looking at my throat just a little bit ago, the swelling has drastically gone down, the white is nearly gone, and the pain is a 2/10. I know I’m not out of the woods yet, bc this is a tricky virus but I’m planning to take it easy and keep eating healthy and keeping up with treatments for at least another week or so. I’m so grateful to people in this forum and the people around me who helped me get through this. And to anyone who’s reading this, you got this, you WILL get through it and it will be okay. This too shall pass as my dad always says. I wanted that as a tattoo before but I really do now lol. I read a very interesting book recently that provided what I thought an undervalued perspective on both the past 40 years in the global economy and some important points to consider for the next 30 years in the global economy. It seems quite relevant to Australia as many of the troubles (and boons) facing countries due to these dynamics have been visible in Australia so its interesting to consider them as part of a global system when typically the view is local.
The Great Demographic Reversal: Ageing Societies, Waning inequality, and an Inflation Revival by Charles Goodhart & Manoj Pradhan
The Past 40 years (1980-2021)

• Why did Central banks have such an easy time achieving their inflation targets (within the band of 2-3%) between 1990-2021 while interest rates were steadily declining and reached record lows post-GFC? And why did central banks have such difficulty reviving inflation between 2008-2021?
• Why did the labour share of economic output shrink in developed economies between 1980-2020?
• What do the next 20-30 years hold for inequality, inflation, and interest rates?

The answer given by Goodhart & Prahad to these question is that over the last 40 years (1980-2020) the global economy has been operating under conditions of an unprecedented boost to the labour supply that has acted as a huge disinflationary force globally. The labour supply boost has come from 4 main factors:

1. The integration of China into the global economic system.
2. Post-1991 the integration of Eastern Europe into the global economic system.
3. An improving dependency ratio due to a large baby boomer generation with a declining TFR (so fewer child dependents and not many old people meant a large working population)
4. The addition of women into the workforce

To give an idea of the numbers of people involved the author's provide figures that the growth in the working age population (WAP) of USA/Western Europe between 1990-2020 was 60 million total, while China added 240 million WAP in this timeframe and the addition of Eastern Europe added a further 200 million WAP to the global economy. (As an aside, this book was released 2 days after the Cardi B hit of the same acronym so they got scooped on this acronym in a pretty funny way).
This enormous boost in the labour supply (in combination with a liberal economic outlook led by globalisation) has had the effect of being a massive disinflationary force on the global economy so that inflation could be comfortably kept within the 2-3% bound even as interest rates steadily dropped. It also significantly weakened the bargaining position of labour which lead to a declining amount of national output going to labour in developed economies which led to a surge of inequality within countries while inequality between countries dropped due to offshoring, the decline of private sector unions due to weakened bargaining power etc.
The ability to maintain inflation in the sweet spot of 2-3% while interest rates dropped was mistakenly attributed to effective central bank actions when the lion's share of the credit was the favourable demographic structure. This has allowed central banks to enjoy a significant amount of independence without political controversy as the decline in interest rates meant that greater debt ratios could be easily sustained without debt interest payments increasing (making it easy for politicians to promise lots of stuff to lots of people without worrying about raising taxes to pay for it).
The authors posit that the conditions of the last 30-40 years are now over due to global aging alongside a relative collapse in globalisation and so we are going to be moving from a disinflationary environment to an inflationary environment. They think this will have a number of different impacts which I will cover in 3 headers of inflation, interest rates, & inequality.
The Next 30 years
Inflation
The authors predict that inflation will be a much more persistent problem in the coming decades because the older populace that was previously working/saving/spending will now stop working/stop saving but will still be spending. This is happening globally and combined with much longer lifespans means that the ratio of producers relative to consumers will be less and less favourable over time. This will be a major inflationary force in the global economy compared to the major disinflationary force demographics have been for the past 30-40 years.
Interest Rates
The author's believe that interest rates will be higher than the average of the last 30 years and remain high as businesses/government will invest large amounts of capital investment in an attempt to improve productivity as well as meet other goals (such as "greening" the economy). However because of the large amounts of debt built up during the low interest rate period the author's believe there will be considerable pressure to keep interest rates low in the short/medium term and that the independence of central banks will be threatened over this. However, as the market determines the interest rate in the long term they expect that over the long term interest rates will be considerably higher than the average of the last 30-40 years.
Inequality
The author's predict that changing demographics will give increased bargaining power to labour who will pursue both increased (after-tax) wages as well as a revival of private sector unions as the balance shifts into their favour. The author's believe that the widening inequality within the countries of the developed world will shrink a decent amount over the next few decades.
Potential counterfactuals
There are two major factors that the author's believe could lead to a different outcome from what they predict above. These are:

1. The integration of India/Africa into the global workforce to create a repeat of the conditions that held when China/Eastern Europe were integrated into the global workforce.
2. A massive productivity boost from automation/AI/something else.

They consider both of these to occur partially but to not be significant enough to change their overall predictions of a world returned to an inflationary environment with higher interest rates and relatively tight labour markets and a subsequent increase in the bargaining power of labour.

1. While India and Africa both possess large and growing WAP's these are not as productive/educated as those in China/Eastern Europe were for a number of reasons. They are countries that have less infrastructure, are less well-governed, and are more corrupt than China/Eastern Europe were at the time of these production shifts. The production shifts would also be occurring in an overall global environment that is far less optimistic about globalisation in general with significant efforts being made to reshore much manufacturing. There is also the potential for mass migration from these countries to advanced economies (so instead of shifting production to cheap workers, shift cheap workers to production) but the numbers required would be so destabilising in populations already wary of more immigration this would be politically and socially non-viable. So while India and Africa will be areas of growing importance over the next 30 years and some shifting of production to these countries will occur, they will not be enough to offset the global aging and demographic shifts in the opinions of the authors.
2. For automation, the authors are more circumspect and think while there is room for automation the amount required would be both enormous and difficult as previous automation has already picked many low-hanging fruits in this area. But there is always the chance of black swan AI events or other breakthroughs changing things but this is inherently impossible to predict.

Personally I found the author's perspective to be fairly persuasive and it does answer a lot of questions in particular about why central banks have had such a hard time restarting inflation post-GFC. It also helps explain why inflation took off globally all at once. Covid jumpstarted a process that was going to occur naturally due to changing demographics.
I am perhaps a little more optimistic about the trajectory of India/Africa/Globalisation than the author's but can also see how they reached the conclusions they did.
I also really liked the long-term perspective taken by the authors of looking at important conditions over decades that impact the economy as so often economic discussion is focused on the next 2-5 years at the very most. Whereas this perspective of a decades long explosion in the supply of labour being a core foundation to many of the smaller changes we observe is quite appealing to me as someone with a background in historical study.

Some important context before I dive in: -I purchased my home in California in September of 2021 (1 year, 9mo ago) and it has been insured by the same company since day 1. This company was not one I had used before. -My home and property were in rough shape with a prior owner. Property was put to auction, purchased, rehabbed and used as a rental for a short time before I purchased it. -Google Maps still shows the property as it was when it was trashed. -My insurer’s name is a drink made with lemons and sugar. They’re a little weird but it was what I could afford at the time. -My real estate agent had the interior photos of the house removed from online listings, to their absolute credit. -My home is sound, tidy, well-maintained and up to code. -I have not made any claims about this home.
I received an email today from a representative at my insurer that says: “During a recent review of your home, it was discovered that your home may not meet our expectations for maintenance. In order for Lemonade to renew your policy, we require that you provide photos of your home. We'll need you to send in 1-2 current photos of each side of the exterior of your home, including the roof, and 1-2 photos of each room. Please provide proof no later than June 20, 2023. If we do not receive proof by June 20, 2023, you will receive a formal non-renewal notice.”
Now, at surface level- I kind of get this. They’re a cheap insurance company and they don’t have field agents to creep around taking pictures of the outsides of folks’ homes while they’re at work. Majority of listing photos are gone from the internet so they look on Google Maps, see a giant mess and say “oh dang, that’s not insurable.”
I have requested a) explanation of the methods used to “discover” that my home is not meeting their standards of maintenance, and b) documentation that outlines the expectations which they will be comparing my photos against. I got one canned and irrelevant response and then crickets once I reiterated (“per my last email…”).
Now, this is what I’m hung up on: never in my years have I heard of an insurer requiring photos of the inside of a home absent a claim. My home is my private space and I am a private person. I expected someone to come by and take photos of the outside, but this seems out of pocket and frankly suspicious. I’m simply not wired to figure out the labyrinthine purgatory of insurance discovery techniques but my little nut brain is screaming “why do they want to see my stuff??”
Am I overreacting? Do I just send them what they want and try to forget that everything I own and hold sacred is now perusable by total strangers? Feels illegal but so many things that feel illegal are just the unfairness simply existing within capitalism.
I digress.
I googled this scenario every way I could think of and can’t come up with a similar example. Policy says absolutely nothing about photos or documentation of property.
And yes. I called to get quotes from other insurers today.
TLDR: insurer wants photos of my whole life and I don’t feel like I signed THAT much of my life away when I bought this house…

I turned 18 this year but I’ve been gambling since 2021, it’s so ridiculous how the online bookies allow minors to sign up so easily. Anyways, I’ve lost more than I can afford (over 20.000$ converted), the maximum amount of time I could go without gambling was a week, I am addicted and I know it very well. Gambling made me suicidal and got me into xanax and cocaine.
I live in Brazil and 20.000$ is a lot, specially for an 18 year old. You can google Brazil’s minimum wage and you would understand how fucked up that is for me, it would take more than 6 years to make that amount back. I’ve won big several times and still managed to lose it all at the end of the day.
I dropped out of high school last year because of gambling so I did not graduate, my parents say I should get a job or study and they are 100% correct I am just so confused and lost on how bad I fucked up, I developed severe anxiety from this addiction. I have to pay my credit cards and I don’t have any money. I’ve lost motivation for everything, I can’t even go for a walk, or hangout with my friends without feeling anxious.
It’s almost like I feel physical withdrawal symptoms from gambling, when I am gambling it’s the only moment I feel comfort, I have nausea and headaches the entire day without gambling and when I finally do it I feel a relief. I just can’t visualize my life without gambling. It feels like I’ve caused several damage to my brain.
My life is lost, I don’t have motivation to do anything, I go to sleep at 6am on xanax and wake up at 3pm, I can’t find a job, I can’t concentrate on studying without feeling anxious, I can’t even hangout with my friends anymore. Gambling took everything it could from me. I have not been on cocaine for a few days because I don’t have money to buy it.

(23M) & my bf (22M) met in October 2021, we first started a friendship as he was in a long distance & open relationship with someone else. Fast forward to December & we have been meeting everyday & hanging out every second of the day. We lightly kept contact all through the year & by January 2023 i had already began dating someone new which I informed my Ex about & he had someone else that there was something between them cooking. Fast forward a month & half in February, i leave my rebound relationship with the new guy & ask my Ex to get back with me. Few bumps along the road & we do get back together exclusively with the rule of that we will start dating till we finally get the hang of the relationship & feel that we know each other perfectly for us to make it official.
Now to present time, yesterday we were speaking when i opened up to him about how i feel that he has been restricting himself from our connection & many inconsistencies started to show. He finally tells me that he has been considering a break up whenever we would argue or fight or just simply not be having a good day. I felt a very heavy weight getting placed on my heart. I love him alot & i dont want to ever lose him but i also want to protect myself just in case if he pulls a fast one like last time & just breaks up with me out of nowhere.
He mentioned that he will start therapy to fix our relationship as he sees that most issues & pressure that comes from this relationship is from his end & that he wants to fix it, but im scared. I spoke to him regarding therapy that whoever is giving him the session may suggest a break up or that maybe we just arent meant for one another. He assured me that then he would change his therapist since he will communicate with his therapist from the first session that he just wants me & wants to fix the relationship. Thus he expects the therapist to help him keep me & make him able to show love & be consistent as he finds that very difficult.
I suggested that we take some distance since im scared of the outcome & i dont want to build my hopes up for them to come crashing down on me if he ends the relationship. But he assured me that a break up isnt an option he has in mind & he even asked me to bare him just till he gets therapy & works his issues out.
Ill be honest & say that im someone who has always been in a relationship & i just grew up seeing love all around me, thus i really want to feel it too. While hes someone who grew up very independent & almost without any sense of love around him. Hes factual & im emotional, he would rather solve his issues right away while id rather cry about them first. Our love languages are also very different. I prefer physical contact & acts of love & he prefers communication & verbally including each other in conversations. His way of showing love to me is always preserved as the bare minimum.
Im not sure what to do anymore. Part of me wants to wait it out, & wait for him to get therapy & possibly get better in communication & dealing with our relationship. I want to start off by saying I no longer work at this company, and I’ve opened my own flower shop since. I am doing much better, which is why I feel like now is a good time to share.
I am a floral designer and I started working at this company August 2021. The company is a online flower retailer and there is no physical store. We work in a warehouse and make bouquets and arrangements all day. At first it was like a dream come true because they pay higher than average and offer health insurance. When December came around we got really busy and we were working 10 hour per day the week leading up to Christmas . The parents at Saticoy Elementary School protested against a planned assembly at the school last Friday. A Pride Month event was the reading from “The Great Big Book of Families.’ The book is about diversity and “all kinds of families.” One father among the protesters is speaking out. The father of four is refusing to send his children back to school until he can speak with school officials. Manuk Grigoryan said he is “fed up.” He’s not alone.

Other blue states should pay attention. Parents across the country are beginning to rise up and say enough is enough. Stop propagandizing young children. What "Pride" looks like in a school
St. Joh’s Pride Day was a wonder to behold. Kids were treated to a school decorated to the child with not only Pride propaganda but lots of transgender-affirming materials. To be clear, we are talking about an elementary school with children as young as 6 years old being indoctrinated into an ideology that is all about sexual preferences and the most anti-tradition and anti-religion madness that exists today.

They identified 256 gender-affirming top surgeries performed on trans youth aged 13-17 in 2020. In three years – from 2019 to 2021 – there were only 56 genital surgeries among patients ages 13 to 17 with a gender dysphoria diagnosis. To get a sense of the numbers, the analysis drew on public and private health insurance claims for about 330 million U.S. patients over five years from 2017 to 2021. This hardly means that clinicians are “going rogue.”
The moral panic about children having gender surgeries disregards the many obstacles trans people experience in access to surgical care, including socioeconomic barriers such as insurance access and out-of-pocket costs, barriers related to obtaining behavioral health letters in support of surgery, limited surgeon availability, and, for minors, the need for parental permission. For a long time now I’ve been away from the sources and settings of all my trauma. I thought by leaving my hometown I would feel better. But now I’ve come to find myself living with ghosts. It was toxic to say the least. After breaking up in February 2019, we fought for 2 years. He stalked me online and at my first job. Looking back I shouldn’t have responded to his comments towards me or instigated arguments, but at the time I was angry, scared, and felt the need to defend myself. I kept a lot of screenshots of the verbal abuse and manipulation he put me through, the harassment and threats on his end, as well as his friends harassing and threatening me. I held onto a lot of photo evidence of any assault that occurred as well. When I reported him, a year after we broke up, after I had fully realized what happened to me, I gave the police everything I had.
Since we were minors it was considered a child sexual assault case involving two minors. Because of this, they had to tread carefully when investigating since he had more protections as a minor. He hid behind his mom, refused to talk to the police, and the case was closed. There wasn’t enough evidence to go to court.
A year later in 2021, I decided I would come out w my story, since the system had failed me. That ensued a storm. He and his partner contacted my family members telling them to get me to take my posts down. His friends wrote page long testaments to how he was innocent and I was sick and needed to seek institutional help— which they reposted on every social media page they could. He told them I was having a “psychotic break”. I was probably the most stable then, than when I was still actively being abused by him. But despite him and his friends efforts, my story had been heard and spread quickly. I got my Justice. People heard my story and knew what he was. So I moved on with my life. I took my post down within the year because I didn’t want to be reminded of the tumultuous couple of years I had dealing with him.
It’s been almost 5 years since the initial abuse and 3-4 since the continuous fighting. I still have the voicemail he sent me 2 years ago telling me I “crossed the line” and that he didn’t assault me. I still have the recorded call I had fowith the police to attempt to get a confession. I should delete them, but I can’t get myself to. It’s the only evidence I have left of what I went through. But I don’t need it. I don’t have to prove myself or my trauma to anyone. I feel bad I still have all these digital remnants of all this pain. I have a loving partner and am at the most stable and healthy place I’ve been so far in my life. I don’t know why I can’t let these hidden but kept reminders go. It’s very frustrating.

I am just wondering if anyone else has had this experience… today, at 12 DPO, I had bilateral drains placed under ultrasound guidance due to collection of fluid. 160mL/5 fl oz was drained from each side during the procedure. It was relatively painless and quicker than I expected, but it feels like a major step backward in recovery.
My surgeon removed 1300g from each breast using the anchor incision. She opted not to use drains, which I was happy about… until now. I wish she had placed them initially. I would have them out by now and be cruising. My recovery has been easy so far, until a week post-op I started feeling uncomfortable swelling and hearing sloshing sounds when moving. My surgeon put me in 3 tight ace bandages and had me try to compress the seromas away (I guess), which didn’t work. Now I feel like I have less mobility and more discomfort than even day 1.
I also had compromised blood flow to my right areola during surgery and so that’s in the process of dying/falling off. Not pretty.
I know these are struggles that will seem small in comparison to the life-changing effects of the surgery, but I’m just in a slump right now. Would love to hear others’ advice or similar experiences, if any are out there. This seems quite uncommon.

I’ve never really don’t something like posting on a sub to vent or talk about something going on, but this has been the only thing on my mind since I did it yesterday night.
I met S about 8 years ago on discord and we quickly became close friends. Something I noticed early on was that I wouldn’t speak my mind or tell her how I really felt about stuff because I didn’t wanna lose my friend. It led to a lot of bad situations where we both cut everyone else off until it was essentially just her and I talking all day everyday for several months.
Summer of 2019 I told her that life would be incredibly busy for me that fall semester & that I wouldn’t be able to talk to her as often, but we did still talk and have fun. She decided to tell me I was hurting her and ignoring her that semester, which ended with her ghosting me and deleting her socials.
I felt horrible about this for a really long time & blamed myself for awhile. Eventually, I stopped blaming myself and realized that I did the best I could to keep that friendship going.
Winter of 2021 her brother randomly adds me to a group chat with her and him and we start talking again. She mentions she’s been going through a lot mentally and pushed everyone away, not just me. I chose to forgive her for the sake of moving forward and genuinely missing someone I consider my sister.
By the end of 2021 she ghosted me again and deleted her discord account. This hurt at lot, but I thought I’d get over it faster. Summer of 2022 I got a little too drunk and messaged her brother saying it’s messed up that she keeps doing this and that I’d like to talk to her just so I can speak my peace and move on.
We ended up talking about it a lot and became friends again because I thought things would be different. Things were really great for awhile. About a month ago she approached me saying she thinks I’ve been fake and lying to her. I tell her idk what she’s talking about but I’ll be more authentic I guess. She proceeds to slowly talk to me less and less like before.
This culminates in me being fed up with feeling like shit over someone that doesn’t value me. I messaged everyone in the group she brought me into saying that she does not want my presence anymore, so I’ll remove myself from the situation. I told them all, including her, that I love them all but I can’t do this again. I then proceeded to block everyone on everything and leave all mutual servers.
This has been eating me up all day because I know I needed to get out of this friendship, but I have like 1 other friend otherwise and I hate feeling so alone. I’m at a really low point in my life right now so I’m hoping this was the first step towards caring about myself more and not caving to others.
