2023.06.06 05:17 strangerabbiit How long did it take for you to get your stolen car back?

My 2020 Hyundai Elantra has been sitting at the auto repair shop for over two weeks and I just got my estimate back ($5600 in damages). Because of back ordered parts, there’s currently no return date. Rental coverage is going to run out soon too. It’s a shitty situation but I’ve accepted it.
I wanted to ask those of you affected by the recent car thefts, what your experiences have been? What were the damages? How long did it take for you to get your car back? Afterwards, did you keep the car or did you trade it in?

2023.06.06 04:54 Top-Zookeepergame36 2023 Honda Accord Touring Nightmare Story

I was really excited about owning a 2023 Honda Accord Touring. I placed an order back in January of this wear for the Touring in Canyon River Blue with the HPD package as well. It took some time but I ended up taking delivery of the vehicle in late April.
I was able to enjoy it for a solid three weeks before nightmare struck.
When taking delivery of the vehicle, I noticed some interior scratches along the driver side door interior trim and an odd buzzing/rattling noise coming from both the driver side door and passenger side area. I took it back to the dealership and they looked at it for two days without being able to figure out the cause. They ended up replacing the entire driver side door and discovered that some of the bolts on the underbody weren’t torqued to spec from the factory.
It’s been sitting at a local auto body shop for the last two weeks and they keep extending the repair time. First they told me that it would only be a couple days to repair and now it’s turning into an extended ordeal. They’re claiming that multiple parts need to be replaced including the entire suspension system.
This has been a really unfortunate experience because the car was so nice in so many ways. It felt ultra-premium, quiet, extremely economical, overall very satisfied until these issues started to pop up.
Has anyone else experienced any manufacturer defects with their 11th gens?

2023.06.06 04:36 Jealous-Actuator6876 Can anyone recommend a student-friendly auto repair shop?

Hey Ags,
My old faithful Honda randomly died on my way to class today. Can anyone recommend a good, honest repair shop? My usual mechanic is in another city. I’m nervous about going to someone I don’t have a relationship with, especially on top of the stress of finals and it’s the end of the quarter so I’m quite low on funds.
Tips on places to avoid also appreciated!
Thanks, pals. Wishing everyone the best possible finals week!

2023.06.06 03:29 slnrdm81 Mercedes Benz Certified GLE 350 tire replacement fault, customer satisfaction issues

On May 22nd, we purchased a used 2020 GLE 350 from MB , NH, which was certified by the dealer. Unfortunately, the car had scratches on the back and front, and two wheels were damaged, causing aesthetic issues. The sales representative assured us that the service and body shop would address the problems and fix everything as good as new. We signed the sales contract with the condition and received approval for our auto loan. However, since the sales representative was going on vacation for two weeks, and the car would be in the body shop to be fixed, we agreed to pick up the car two weeks after his return to have him as our point of contact. On June 5th, the representative called to say the car was ready for us to pick up.
When we arrived, we found nothing was done to repair the car. The staff tried to make us sign the documents, telling us we should not expect more from a used car. We were disappointed as the promises were not kept, we had yet to receive the vehicle, and it still had scratches and wheel damage. The sales manager said he could arrange for the car to go to the body shop to fix the scratches on the back. However, the wheel damage and front bumper scratches will not be covered. Upon inspection, we discovered that the front tires were new, the back tires were used, and they were of different brands, Pirelli and Continental. The most shocking thing was that they had replaced the right rear tire inside out! The sales manager agreed to fix everything and offered us new tires, painting the front bumper and back hatch scratch area, and fixing the wheels. The conversation was not pleasant, and we were pretty annoyed.
We accepted the dealer's offer, but we still have some concerns. As a parent, I am worried about the safety of my two children, who will be passengers in the car. Do you think the tire replacement issue is a safety concern that we should break the deal? We also need to figure out how long the vehicle was used with the faulty tire.
We plan to give them one more week for repairs. We will consider returning it if we aren't happy with the repairs. While we know that we can return the car within five days if we are unsatisfied, we are unsure how the NH state law applies for used cars since we have yet to receive the vehicle officially, and it is still in the dealer's possession.

2023.06.06 02:24 Chance-Patience6644 petshotel lobby refresh

i hate the concept of the lobby refresh. if you aren’t aware, corp is going by district and giving us a “facelift” in the hotels. the hotels could sure use some TLC but they are fixing the already best areas because that’s what the PPs see.. they’re fixing the lobby and the “theater”/front playroom and even the aisle in front of the theater room window. but they’re not upgrading the other playrooms that are way worse off, they’re not expanding our hotel so we have more space options for all of our demand, they take a month to fix a lock on a HUMAN door (and finally show up on a holiday weekend and get in our way) and they still haven’t come to repair one of our kitty cottages that i submitted a work order for 3 months ago.. but thank you for painting the walls and installing decor to make us look like a damn fast food restaurant. meanwhile, the pets are the last thing on corps mind yet again. and then they sit there and complain that our respiratory incidents are so high (like they care) when it’s seasonal and they force us to hire their piece of shit friends to be our overnight staff and they get a stick up their ass if you actually tell them to clean properly (ie clear haikibble from drains, auto scrub the hotel aisles, clean the air vents, actually fucking wash the suite doors/windows, etc)

2023.06.06 02:07 artfellig A7RIII - electronics repair in Los Angeles area?

My A7RIII has had a lot of use since I bought it, about 5 years ago. I haven't noticed any physical malfunctions, but occasionally there seem to be electronic glitches, like sometimes the Intelligent Auto icon appears, even though I'm on M or A(perture) setting.
Also, the other day I was shooting in Aperture mode, with ISO at 800...exterior, partly sunny, good exposure. I shot a bunch of frames, but then the viewfinder showed image as super-over-exposed, and I realized that the ISO had somehow switched to 32,000 (not 3200) on its own. ISO was def on manual, not auto-ISO.
Has anyone heard of electronic issues like these? Any suggestions for where in the L.A. area to get the body repaired? Or any troubleshooting steps I can take? Firmware is up to date.

2023.06.06 01:01 r_shackleford95 Travel Trout Spinning Rod Recommendation.

Flying to Jackson WY in July and will have a lot of opportunities for river access. Looking for recommendations for a travel rod I can pack in a suitcase or carry on a plane. I do have a rod tube and some great two piece light and ultra light rods as a backup, but would prefer to keep it simple and get a travel rod.
I will be using a Shimano Sedona 1000 (my all-time favorite trout reel) and will be throwing Panther Martins and other inline spinners, small spoons, Rapala’s, rooster tails, etc. Looking for a rod in the 4-8lb range. The longer the better. 7-8’ would be preferred but I know I’m pretty limited when shopping for travel rods. Lower cost is preferred, since I won’t be using this often- I live on the FL coast and almost exclusively surf fish. I make it to northern trout waters about 1-2 times a year max.
Thanks in advance for recommendations.

2023.06.06 00:06 armChairSocrates BEWARE of being scammed by crew that offers auto repairs in Target lot

tl:dr Was scammed by a crew of 3 men who offered to fix my car’s dent and scratch for almost a third of what it would cost in a bodyshop. Left the car in worse shape and now won’t answer my calls or text.
Just as I was about to drive away after picking up my Target drive up order, a man waved me down. He motioned to the side of my car. I got out thinking I might have a flat or something. He pointed to a dent and scratch on the door which I’ve had for the past few months (an unfortunate parking incident which was my fault).
The man said that he works for the dealership and had fixed another car over the Memorial Day weekend which had the exact same paint scheme as mine. Offered to do the job for a third of what it would cost me at a bodyshop as he had all the paint leftover from the previous job. I was still iffy on the deal and tried to wiggle out by saying I don’t have enough cash on me. To which, he offered to take CashApp or to even come down to where I live and fix the car there.
The things that he said about how much it would cost to fix at a bodyshop (around $1200) and how they would fix it sounded legitimate based on a quote I had got a while ago and some research on the internet. Ultimately he said he really needed the money as he had a newborn baby at home. The deal he was offering coupled with his story, got me.
The other 2 men were in a silver minivan and I parked next to them. They went to work on the car in the parking lot. From what I could tell, they had the equipment - paint, tools for the dent, polishing paper etc. The guy who I had initially spoken to even offered me a free detail for any customer I sent his way. Gave me his phone number which added to the legitimacy.
They were probably done in 10 - 15 minutes. There was a white foam-like substance covering the area where the scratches were. The guy said it was to protect the fresh paint and make sure no bugs or dirt stick to it while I drive back. All I needed to do was wash the car after at least 2 hours and it’ll be good as new!
Imagine my horror when I washed the car the next day. All there was in place of the scratches was white paint with finger smudges. No amount of scrubbing would get rid of it. I tried with a car clay bar for over half an hour.
Gave him a call immediately. Someone else picked up (could have been the same guy though, not sure). Said he isn’t around and will give a call back within the hour. He hasn’t responded to any of my calls or texts since (surprise!).
I understand that I may have no legal standing. In hindsight there were plenty of red flags that I should have noticed. Like when I asked him which dealership he works for and hemmed and hawed, before ultimately saying Ray Catena.
I have their license number and probably their faces on my dashcam too, but don’t think any of that matters anymore. Hopefully enough people read this and aren’t sucked into something similar.
The man was wearing an orange hat, dark sunglasses, orange Polo shirt and beige cargo shorts. Said his name was Santino. They were driving a silver Honda Lagreat.

Fully restored Garrard AT-6
I originally intended this to be a spare deck for my vintage Clairtone console but ended up making it a stand alone player when I found a nice original plinth. Needed a full grease job, repair to a broken tonearm wire and a polarized power cord added after figuring out the switching on the unit. Now to source an amp and speakers (getting expensive). Very pleased how it came out and all the auto functions are working great. I’m eventually going to put a magnetic cartridge on it as well, but for now it’s running a ACOS cart with a diamond stylus at 3.5g.

2023.06.05 23:35 adventurepaul What's new in e-commerce? - Week of June 5th, 2023

Hi ShopifyeCommerce - I'm Paul and I follow the e-commerce industry closely for my Shopifreaks E-commerce Newsletter. Each week I post a summary recap of this week's top stories, which I cover in depth in the newsletter. .
  1. STAT OF THE WEEK: Apple's App Store ecosystem generated $1.1 trillion in revenue in 2022. 90% was commission-free and the remainder Apple took a 15% to 30% commission. This $1.1 trillion breaks down as $910 billion in total billings and sales from the sale of physical goods and services, $109 billion from in-app advertising and $104 billion for digital goods and services. .
  2. Shopify officially launched Shop Cash, its rewards program that earns shoppers 1% cashback on purchases made using the Shop Pay payment method. After a purchase, shoppers will see their Shop Cash rewards balance appear in their Shop App. The rewards are redeemable for future purchases within Shop App, currently just for customers and stores in the U.S. Shop Cash redemption is not limited to JUST the store that a customer purchased from. The rewards are tied to the payment method (Shop Pay), not to the store itself, and can be used on any U.S. store within the Shopify ecosystem. .
  3. Last week Reddit announced a significant increase to its API pricing, which will inevitably put most 3rd party apps out of business. Other apps affected by the pricing change include Reddit is Fun (my personal favorite), Relay for Reddit, Bacon Reader, and more. Additionally, under the new API rules, developers of third-party clients won’t be able to earn money from ads or be able to show NSFW content within their apps. Their only option for monetization will be to hope that users are willing to pay a monthly subscription to their app, despite not getting access to some of Reddit's content. Moderators wrote an open letter to Reddit management, urging them to reconsider the recent API pricing change, which has been signed by thousands of users and moderators and shared across hundreds of subreddits. Many subreddits are planning to go dark on June 12th for 48 hours or longer (some permanently) to protest the policy — which means turning their subreddit private and not making its content available to the public. .
  4. Walmart announced its initiatives to reduce its use of plastic in its online business and reduce waste, plans which include replacing nearly all its plastic mailers with paper mailers, "rightsizing" its cardboard box packaging to reduce packing waste, giving customers the ability to request consolidation of multiple items into fewer boxes, and later this year giving customers the ability to opt-out of single use plastic bags used in online pick-up orders across the U.S. Amazon has offered similar shipment consolidation features for quite some time, including allowing users choose an Amazon Day, where members pick a day of the week to have all their items delivered at once. .
  5. Amazon is making a big change at its warehouses to ensure that customers receive products in good condition. The company will soon begin employing AI to check items before they are shipped to ensure that they are of good quality before leaving the facility. The AI inspection happens during the picking and packing stage. As items are selected and put into bins for orders, they go through an imaging station where they are checked for accuracy. If an item is flagged as damaged, a human worker takes a closer look. Otherwise, it moves on to the packing stage and gets shipped to the customer. The AI system is reportedly three times better than a human worker at identifying damaged items, and it never has to use the bathroom. .
  6. India's Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) has expanded to facilitate B2B transactions. The B2B transactions on ONDC are being powered by tech startups SignCatch, a SaaS payments startup, and Rapidor, a business automation platform, which have jointly enabled both the B2B buyer and seller side platforms on the network, allowing interoperability between both sides The ONDC team said it has other startups in the pipeline for its B2B expansion, including the rural fintech company Spice Money. .
  7. Shopify is facing a $130M class-action lawsuit over severance offered to recently laid off staff. The lawsuit alleges that some Shopify employees laid off at the start of May were presented with departure packages outlining hefty severance sums they were entitled to if they signed the agreement within a few days. However once workers signed the agreements, Shopify changed the terms and the employees were given substantially smaller sums. .
  8. Twitter is also being sued by former employees — this time by former janitors from its New York City offices. The suit alleges that Twitter violated city law when janitors were abruptly fired in December after the Elon Musk takeover, violating the Displaced Building Service Workers Protection Act by failing to retain the janitors after terminating the contract. The lawsuit is seeking hundreds of thousands of dollars in back wages for the former workers. .
  9. Amazon, along with four other companies selected, built a prototype for the digital euro's application in e-commerce payments, after the ECB called on front-end providers in the EU payment market to contribute ideas and build applications. Amazon is also optimistic about the project and welcomes the introduction of the digital euro. The company said, “We at Amazon believe a digital euro can be a tool to foster innovation and increase the efficiency of payments.” The European Commission is due to publish a bill in June that covers digital euro privacy safeguards and other major issues. .
  10. ShipStation released a study that reveals the factors that deter e-commerce customers. The “Exploring the Nuances in E-Commerce” guide includes a survey of over 3,000 customers and 600 online merchants across six markets, and examines the deterrents of consumer loyalty in e-commerce. 90% of Australian consumers state that a lack of suitable delivery options can influence whether they abandon their cart at the online checkout. 30% indicate they will often or always abandon their cart if their desired delivery option is not offered. However merchants seem to be ignorant to the above stats. 38% of Australian merchants believe a lack of delivery options offered at the checkout ‘never’ prevents consumers from finalizing their purchase. >
  11. Etsy announced an update to its listing process for sellers to add new listings or edit existing ones. With the new listings form, sellers can navigate sections faster and more efficiently, access the new performance tab to see performance data and reviews for the listing, and keep track of edits via a change summary in the footer. .
  12. Last week approximately 2,000 Amazon employees staged a walkout to protest Amazon corporate's decision to bring employees back into the office, and Amazon couldn't have cared less. Company spokesperson Brad Glasser told Fortune, that since the return-to-office mandate went into effect “there’s more energy, collaboration, and connections happening, and we’ve heard this from lots of employees and the businesses that surround our offices.” .
  13. A husband-and-wife team of eBay sellers put bubble wrap companies to the test to find out whether the sizing on their labels were accurate. One brand which advertised 700 feet on the label only shipped around 400 feet, while the best experience was from a 1050 feet role delivering 1020 feet. .
  14. Wix issued its second Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, which demonstrates the company's efforts towards building a more sustainable and inclusive business and shares new initiatives to its approach to a responsible ESG framework. Co-founder and CEO, Avishai Abrahami, said, “We're here to make a difference and, ultimately, create a better world for everyone, and with today's decisions we're solidifying our foundation – for our users, our people and our company – for the next decade of success for Wix.” .
  15. Walmart added the ability for sellers to purchase shipping labels for domestic orders on its marketplace, a feature that was previously only available on cross-border orders. Walmart also announced Automated Shipping Settings, which automatically generates transit times based on your warehouse zip code, carrier service, and customer's address. .
  16. Moneris, a Canadian provider of payment solutions for mobile, online, and brick-and-mortar businesses, partnered with Wix to power its in-house website builder. Businesses using Moneris Online will have access to Wix's product offerings including bookings, online ordering, commerce and business solutions, and security infrastructure. .
  17. Amazon plans to hire 1,000 seasonal workers across Australia in preparation for its busy mid-year sales period. The company has opened applications for temporary roles at fulfillment centers and logistics sites across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide in an attempt to get ahead of the holiday season rush. .
  18. Binance is rumored to be laying off as much as 20% of its 8,000 employee workforce, according to a tweet by independent reporter Colin Wu. A company spokesperson responded with a statement saying that “this not a case of rightsizing” but a focus on “whether we have the right talent”, as the company says it'll still be seeking to fill hundreds of open roles. .
  19. Shein is hiring a U.S. head of logistics who will serve as a liaison between the company's U.S. and Singapore headquarters, according to a LinkedIn job posting, as part of its plan to bolster compliance and logistics execs ahead of its U.S. marketplace. The company is also hiring an anti-money laundering and compliance executive and a number of U.S. marketplace personnel. .
  20. commercetools, a provider of composable commerce, appointed Roxana Dobrescu as its first Chief People Officer. Dobrescu, who brings two decades of corporate human resources and talent acquisition experience to the company, will lead global personnel efforts. .
  21. Companies are pulling back on their fulfillment plans including American Eagle, who announced last year that it was building out 3PL capabilities after acquiring two logistics firms, however recently trimmed its logistics workforce, stating that the unit's services had not met expectations. Blue Apron, another example, opened two distribution centers and added 1,200 workers to assemble its boxes of fresh goods, but are now selling its logistics assets to FreshRealm, which makes meal kits for Kroger, Publix, Walmart, and other grocers. .
  22. Meesho, the Facebook-backed Indian e-commerce marketplace that offers the lowest seller commission in the country, has become the world's fastest shopping app to cross 500M downloads across Google Play and iOS, reaching the milestone in just six years. Over half of those downloads (274M) came in 2022. .
  23. Amazon is in talks with all major U.S. wireless carriers about a potential partnership to offer cheap or free cell phone service to Prime members. So far there are no details on what Amazon's wireless service would look like, including whether it would offer the same level of service or Internet speeds as you'd get going directly through Verizon, T-Mobile, or AT&T. .
  24. Twitter is hiring NBCUniversal's senior executive Joe Benarroch in a role focusing on business operations. At NBCUniversal, Benarroch was executive VP of communications, global advertising and partnerships. .
  25. Molson Hart, a reporter who famously wrote about how Amazon's business practices harm American consumers in 2019, shared on Twitter that Amazon lawyers “are trying to ruin me.” In an attempt to prove that Molson is either lying or wrong, the company has requested countless documents in discovery and requested more than two full days of depositions from the reporter, while putting him in a position to cover a mountain legal bills through 2026. .
  26. Last week I reported that Jeff Bezos is ripped now. Well it turns out that Mark Zuckerberg is too! The Meta CEO impressed his followers by completing the Murph challenge, which involves running one mile, followed by 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and concluding with another mile run, while wearing a 20lb weighted pack, in under 40 minutes. .
  27. Amazon is winding down its celebrity voices initiative on Echo devices, which included voices from Samuel L. Jackson, Melissa McCarthy, and Shaquille O'Neal. Customers will be able to continue using the voices for a limited time and then can contact Amazon for a refund. .
  28. Juni is launching a new feature called Juni Invoices, which offers a “buy media, pay later” model that allows online retailers to choose between 30, 60, and 90 days to pay their media invoices. The platform will auto-collect and scan invoices via integration with Google and Facebook Ads and automatically match each invoice with its corresponding transaction to reduce processing time. .
  29. Google made several updates to Google Wallet, focusing on health care and travel services, with potential use cases for personal identification and airline boarding. The upgrades arrive to compete with Apple Pay, which began offering consumers a hub for their virtual payments cards along with authentication services. Now how about offering a 4.15% interest bearing savings account? .
  30. Meta is planning to cut another 1,200 jobs across California, with 528 coming from the company's Menlo Park headquarters. The company also announced that it will require office-assigned staff to return to in-person work for at least three days a week starting Sep 5th. .
  31. Klaviyo launched an integration with Amazon's Buy With Prime service, which lets Klaviyo users sync their order and customer data with their Klaviyo account. Business are able to see a single, real-time view of their customers, conversions, and revenue through Klaviyo's platform. .
  32. Plus 8 seed rounds, IPOs, and aquisitions of interest including SellerX's acquisition of fellow e-commerce aggregator Elevate Brands.

I hope you found this recap helpful. See you next week! (Unless ecommerce is dark in protest of the Reddit API changes. In that case, I'll see ya when I see ya!)

2023.06.05 23:12 innocoussatan Running into many issues while setting up a new pc with ryzen processor

Hi Friends,
I keep getting this error while trying to install manjaro. This is my first time trying it. This is also i new CPU I bought recently (Ryzen 7 5700g running on Gigabyte b550m ds3h). My wifi is a realtek device.(I also have another issue with this on windows 10. Here it disconnects automatically after some time. This issue is not present in linux or win 11). Does any BIOS setting needs to be changed here? Installing windows 10 and 11 was easy. But I'm not able to install any linux. I tried:
- Debian: The linux does not connect to internet during install due to being unable to set DHCP. I found that this is an issue with current version I was installing (11.7) and it has been dealt with in Bookworm(12). I haven't tried installing this yet. The debian installs completely but when booting up it only shows CLI and I don't know how to connect to internet via linux CLI, I was only able to login.
- POP OS: mostly I've had good experience with POP Os on my old laptop. But now it gets completely installed but shows a grey screen after login. Installing it was a nightmare. When booting via USB, the OS boots but you can't do anything. Only the setup works. i.e. you can only install the OS but can't do anything with the image booted up with.
- Ubuntu unity: It boots as well. Here everything works well in the booted image. I used this to repair GRUB. It installs completely without issues. When I login there is a weird scaling issue where everything is way too zoomed in.
The error image is exclusive to Manjaro only. It occurs after I enter either "Boot with open source drivers" or "Boot with Proprietary drivers". I'm not able to open "Edit boot options" option as well. When I try to enter it, it duplicates the option in the menu but nothing else happens.
I only got into programming 1.5 years ago, via web development. I'm not good at OS and low level systems yet but I do want to learn. I was using debian based distros for 2 years and wanted to try Manjaro.

2023.06.05 21:28 Rammadeus H: Starter Quad Choo Choos W: nothing

These are too good to scrap but not good enough for people to pay big dolla dolla bills for so i'd rather give them away. Don't just take one to sell or scrap cos that's not cool, man.
I shall mod them for full auto and give you some spikes to get going as well.
Here's the basis of a build as well to get the best out of it. The build.
You don't NEED bandolier but it is recommended as spikes are heavy and especially if you wanna use this as a main weapon and not a secondary or backup.
I recommend blocker 3 in STR for defence for the odd time something is dead and manages to get close enough to hit you.
For bosses add in tenderizer and suppressor in CHR. Add in Inspirational if you want more XP.
Gunsmith if you are struggling to keep your weapons repaired. Demo expert if you have an explosive weapon. More INT = more xp as well.
In AGI you may want to add Escape artist or covert operative. but tbh everything should be dead so what are ya sneaking for?
if you want 1 more point in LCK maybe add grim reapers sprint.

THE GUNS!
Quad aiming movement speed
Quad last shot DRWA

Aye!

2023.06.05 21:03 SeanInMyTree Is this a scam?

So long story short my jeep got hit by a guy last year who then disappeared on me. So it’s still damaged. Cosmetic, doesn’t effect driving of car, but expensive cosmetic.
Fast forward to today, I’m leaving planet fitness and a guy stops me. Noticed your car is damaged, I work auto repairs, mind if I take a look give you an estimate. Says he can do it today, has everything he needs from another job, will take him 2 hours, $1800.
All my scam sensors are Lighting up. . Tell him I don’t. Have that kind of cash available he says no problem $1500. Has what he needs so all profit for him. And you can Venmo, Zelle whatever doesn’t have to be cash. After the job is done. No money upfront. He’s only in the area cause of other job so has to be today. Again scam sensors blinking bright fucking red. He’ll do it at my house. Wherever.
Finally did I can’t do it he says $900.Did I pass up the deal of a lifetime or avoid a scam?
